Hello New York City!
I step out from the plane and inhale deeply. I still keep asking myself why I accepted the work in New York. My ex boyfriend, Zac Goldreich, lives here for god's sake.
I still remember the last time I saw him. It was a month ago... a day after aunt Adriana, Zac's mom, married to my uncle, Frederick Wheeler. Zac and I were their entourage. My uncle doesn't have any children and he loves me so much since I was in my mom's tummy. He has been there with me since I was born. Uncle Fred is my father's big brother. My father, Victor Wheeler, was a worker in New York but moved to Finland to handle his father's grocery shop when my grandpa died. They opened the only grocery shop in Saariselkä, Finland. While my uncle Fred is a doctor in Finland.
I still remember everyone in Saariselkä knows my past with Zac. They were so happy when we were together at the wedding. Everyone said they couldn't wait to see us together again. I was so pissed with everyone, especially Mrs. Korhonen, one of my best friends', Elias Korhonen, mother. She was the BBC Finland. Really, that woman loves to gossip about everyone and everything.
And she was the first who told everyone that Zac and I are back together. Her daughter in law, which is my other best friend, Sophia Richards Korhonen, ran to me and told me everyone is expecting my wedding invitation with Zac by next month. God!
Maybe that was the main reason why I acted on impulse receiving this job without thinking. My little sister Alyssa, is living in New York, so I will be roommates with her starting from now. She is working as a design product director in New York.
I arrived in the apartment. The apartment is a middle class apartment since my sister is having a great salary, and my new company also gives me a great sum salary so we could afford this apartment. My sister moved yesterday from her old apartment to this 2 bedroom apartment. Yes, we are that close.
I'm still taking out my luggage when security comes in and helps me. They make sure my apartment number. I pull my 2 big luggages to the elevator.
Alyssa, or we call her Lys, is waiting for me in the front elevator on our floor. "Welcome to New York City, girl" she grins.
I chuckle and hug her. No one will recognize that we are sisters if they aren't our friends. We don't look alike. Alyssa with her color and features like mom. With her brunette hair, caramel big round eyes, white skin and petite body while I'm more like dad with my ginger hair, blue eyes, olive skin with a hint of Spanish descent since dad is half Spanish half Finland, but I'm not as petite as Alyssa. She is in size 2 while I'm in size 4.
My sister helps me with the luggage and we go to our apartment while talking about the closest laundry, restaurant, and grocery from here.
"So happy to have you here, Alli!" She says, throwing herself on the couch.
I giggle "you missed me that much?" I'm throwing myself next to her.
She giggles "immensely! I don't have anyone to talk shit with." Lys and I are very close. With a year gap we are like sister slash best friends.
"By the way.. I have a present for you"
I blink "for me? You are too generous sis!" I laugh.
She shakes her head "not from me"
"Huh?"
She chuckles and points to my door's room "I already put it in your room. You can check it out by yourself later" she looks at her watch "I'm still having an online meeting in 5 mins. My stupid boss! Order me the dinner okay!" She winks and goes to her room.
The reason why Lys didn't pick me up at the airport earlier was because she had some online meeting with her boss.
I go to my room to check on the present. It's a beautiful chocolate flowers bouquet. A huge one. I don't have to see the sender to know who sent the flower. Zac Goldreich...
