Willful Blindness
You take off my glasses before you kiss me,
Don't want them in the way,
But I can no longer see your eyes
begging me to stay.So I'm forced to look inside me
And question who I am.
I find that you're not a part of me,
And neither is any man.As your lips brush mine, I squint my eyes
And imagine you to be another,
And I protect your heart and pretend for so long
That I love you and not her.But my heartaches and headaches
Force me to put my glasses back on.
I had convinced myself that I would pretend forever,
But I'm not that strong.I look back at you with a crystal view
And find that you're still hazy,
And it finally becomes clear to me,
That this is no longer where I want to be.
