Your Life Matters.
I take a breath,
Because there is no knee on my neck.
Our chess set has been stained in checkers red,
By those in blue, who were supposed to serve and protect,
Now how many minutes until this man is dead?
I take a breath because I can.
And why you can't is something I'll never fully understand.
So I'll stand where he couldn't,
I'll help you to your feet,
But I'm no saviour, I'm your crutch, you can lean on me.
And when your throat bleeds from screaming
I will amplify your noise,
I will make sure they understand your words and don't drown out your voice.
And I'll take a breath and kneel on no necks,
You can climb on my shoulders so you can rest and protest,
And they can see that you deserve to breathe and be,
And we'll fight for no black or brown necks beneath white knees.https://sayevery.name/
