Velvet Café [Childe x reader]

+ 14 : Fireworks +

  
"There's going to be a fireworks display at the town plaza, 8 pm." Childe mentioned after he and (y/n) exited the restaurant.

"Oh? You want to go see it?"

"You don't want to?"

"That isn't what I was asking." The girl frowned. "We should go see it together though, fireworks are nice unless you're trying to sleep through a shitty new year."

Childe chuckled at (y/n)'s unusally sarcastic humor that suggested her previous new year celebrations weren't so great. For a brief moment his mind wandered on what plans he could make for them to celebrate new year together.

The orange haired male put his arm around his lover's neck, resting it on her shoulder. (Y/n) still wasn't used to it but she didn't object to his actions.

It was half an hour till 8 so the two picked up their pace and returned to the parking lot where Childe had his car parked lazily.

Like those drivers that would take up two spots.

"You really should park properly or you're going to get fined." (Y/n) reprimanded.

The town plaza was filled with people that gathered together to enjoy the fireworks. While Childe and (Y/n) stood there waiting 5 minutes before the fireworks display planned to start, the three other female employees of the velvet café had spotted them from a distance.

"Girls look! The two lovebirds are here!" Barbara whispered buoyantly. She was glued to Noelle by the hip, hugging the lavender's arm as it gave her a sense of protection in the bustling plaza. Xiangling stood with them but her thoughts have transcended the spirit of holiday.

"I wonder if there are any stalls around here. I want to taste new food." She mumbled.

"There you go again with the food Xiangling! I already went past my stomach's limits with all the food you made us try with you at the mall." Barbara sighed. "Anyway should we go say hi to the two over there?"

"I think we should let them be. They're probably on a date after all." Noelle giggled.

"Ah I see a food stall over there!" Xiangling gasped and started jogging towards the stall without warning.

"That girl..."

"Shall we follow her?" The prim female smiled ever so sweetly at the blonde.

"Maybe later." Barbara's cheeks were tinted a very light pink. Even under the somber night sky, the face of her friend was so visible, and 'gorgeous' she thought to herself. "Let's just have a few minutes to ourselves, Hehe! The fireworks are just about to start too!"

Vibrant colors filled the evening sky. Blaring sounds of the fireworks and the vehement people that watched it.

Childe's arms snaked around (Y/n)'s waist, pulling her close to him. His chilly breath tickled the back of her neck while she looked up trying not to get flustered.

"I'm happy we got to spend this day together." He whispers.

"Me too."

While (Y/n) was looking up at the fireworks in an attempt to keep her heart from going mad, Childe looked at her while imagining the future they'd have together. His gaze lingered on her bewitching (e/c) eyes, tracing the rest of her face until reaching her cherry moist lips. He wanted to kiss her.

"Childe, is something wrong?" (Y/n) questioned after she grew calm enough to face him.

"I was just thinking about how much I want to spend the rest of my days with you."

"Really? Why don't you secure it with a ring then?" The girl joked. A deep blush crept up Childe's face, he turned away from (y/n) in an attempt to hide it. "Now you know how it feels when you do sudden things like this to me." She smirked and pryed her boyfriend's arms off of her.

"Now tell me why you were staring at my lips."

The piercing sounds of chatter and fireworks exploding did not ease. Childe and (y/n) stood in front of each other, the former still blushing madly.

"You were staring at the fireworks, how would you know where I'm looking at?"

"Peripheral vision." (Y/n) drew nearer to her boyfriend. The proximity enough to feel each other's body heat.

The situation was now reversed, and only in rare occasions would the girl act so confidently. It left Childe standing there awkwardly not knowing what to do. The sound of his heartbeat grew even louder than the fireworks.

(Y/n) smiled devilishly and leaned closer to Childe. The closest they've ever been before. Her face barely even an inch away from kissing him.

His breaths grew heavy, and the two remained that way for a few seconds until (y/n) pulled away from the distance and stuck her tongue out teasingly.

Dismay washed over Childe. He thought that if they were in a more private area he'd pin her down and remind her the verdict of teasing him that way.

"Next time you intend to trifle me, you won't get away with just this." Childe took (Y/n)'s wrist and pulled her towards him.

His eyes landed on her lips, waiting to see if she'd flinch or disapprove. Not seeing any sign of censure, he softly presses his lips against hers.
