Grace's POV.
Alex comes in and stares deeply into my eyes. I blink twice before realizing that the room is spinning and that my stomach is filled with stones. Still, I feel so empty.
It's strange how the person who gave you so much, who become your everything, is also able to reduced you into nothing.
'' Grace.'' Alex starts and I press my hands to my chest tightly.
'' Where is he? I thought he was with you,'' I plead him to tell me he was just playing around but Alex being Alex, would never lie to me on propose.
'' I've dropped him off here hours ago. He said he would have waited for you then I got this message and I freaked out'' Alex hands me his phone and I try to read it sending the tears away.
From Harry: Take care of my little angel, protect her and keep her safe, you know that little bunny is a hot mess for trouble. My heart is crying out of pain, that's why I'm asking you this. Just make sure she has everything she wants, both of them. It may be me now, but I think once she will have understood I'm not right for her, it will get easier and she will truly get her happy ending. Now that I'll not be there to guard her, I put my one true love in your hands, have care of it I beg you. Treat it as it was your own. H xx.
'' I'm sorry,'' Alex's cold hands touch my cheeks and I come back to reality while my heart is ripped apart.
'' He's gone'' I murmur and Alex embraces me with his arms. I deepen my face into his wild scent and let him massage my head.
'' I'm sure there's a good explanation for this. He won't be away for too long, he can't say without you Grace, we both know that'' no, he doesn't understand, Harry never left, not like this. every time we broke up, he spoke right into my face because somehow he knew he would have come back, but now... the fact that he didn't even have the courage to look into my eyes or even send me a message... He's gone, like everyone. Harry left without giving me a single explanation, an excuse. Nothing. He said he loved me but in the end, he is the one who hurt me the most.
'' He can and that message is the proof. He ran away from me. He gave up on me after all this time. He did the most hurtful thing he could have done to me'' I say surprisingly calm as I find myself sinking on my knees. I feel so tired and my stomach is starting to sting bringing tears to my eyes.
'' You need to lay down Grace.'' Nathaniel tries, softly touching my forearm. I turn my head in his direction but Alex is faster than me and jerks his hands off of me.
'' I'll keep the distance you prank! She's not in the mental state to deal with you.'' he scolds him and pushes him at least ten feet away from me.
'' If you dare come closer to her, I'll make you regret it instantly. Don't tempt me'' he threatens and Nathaniel steps back. I grab my head in my hands and try to catch my breath. I feel suffocated like everything around me was made of a toxic substance and I had to keep myself from inhale it otherwise I'll die.
