ThomasThomas shivered as he felt the vibration of Dylan's raspy voice on his back. Though he was initially startled he felt both warmth and comfort as Dylan suddenly hugged him from behind. He wasn't sure that Dylan was completely satisfied with his response to the question of how long he'd been up but he couldn't lie to him and he was not about to go into heavy detail about the overwhelming thoughts haunting him during the night.
For a moment they were completely silent. All that could be heard were their shaky breaths as they just stood there in front of the bathroom mirror, enjoying the comfort of the other's presence. It was as if this was what their friendship should have been from the beginning, sure it would have complicated things but Thomas had always had these feelings for Dylan ever since he lashed eyes in him. He wasn't sure Dylan's feelings had been there for as long as his but he knew they'd been present for a while, he'd caught glimpses and touches here and there that Dylan just wouldn't use in another context.
Then there was that moment on set a few years ago. Sure it had been a playful joke but they never spoke of it after.
*flashback*
"Take 23, talk by the fire and..... go", the sudden sound of the clapperboard for what felt like the 100th time this day immediately put the actors to work. This take was special though, they'd agreed to prank the team on the 23rd take and this scene was a perfect moment for it.
"We're trapped here... aren't we?", Dylan's line referred to the safe haven in the middle of the maze most of the movie took place in.
"For the moment", Thomas stated looking back at Dylan.
"But...", he continued slowly getting closer to Dylan making sure he got the cue. That's when the outtake occurred. They both slowly leaned in and before Thomas could finish his character's sentence their faces were so close he could feel Dylan's shaky breath on his lips. The crew went completely silent probably in shock.
Then just as their lips were about to meet they pulled back quickly laughing and making faces at each other and the other members of the staff.
"Great blooper guys, I guess this is why we've postponed the release date", the director chuckled jokingly. Dylan and Thomas joined in with the others' laughter but still kept throwing glances at each other maybe trying to read the other persons mind.
*end of flashback*
"Dyl", Thomas whispered still feeling goosebumps on his skin.
"Mhmm", Dylan murmured kissing his shoulder. Thomas turned to face Dylan leaning back on the counter, still wrapped in Dylan's arms.
"Do you remember that day on set...by the fire?", he asked afraid that the memory had simply slipped his best friend's mind.
"Of course I remember, I never stopped thinking about it.", he stated in a more serious yet soft tone. Thomas nodded slightly looking into his eyes.
"I actually wanted to kiss you you know? ", he looked away, not sure what response he would receive to his confession.
He felt a hand on his cheek, gently turning his head back to face Dylan as he planted a kiss on on his forehead.
"I wanted to kiss you too, I was just afraid you didn't feel the same and I had just met Natalia so...", he cringed at the mention of the girl yet he couldn't help the small smile forming on his face due to Dylan's confession.
The couple shared a kiss as they turned to walk to the kitchen hand in hand.
