I woke up about two hours earlier then I had wanted. I groaned as I shifted to turn off whatever sound was blaring. I grabbed my phone to see an incoming call from my best friends Mel and Ollie. I clicked accept and turned the lamp on my nightstand on.

"Wow you look dead." Mel said the second we connected.

"I second that." Ollie quipped. I glared at them.

"I'm two hours behind you dummies. I was sleeping." Both of them had the audacity to look ashamed. "Anyways, why'd you call?"

"We wanted to know how the move went and if there's any tea to spill." Mel said with animated jazz hands."

"I see." I told them all about the way I met Joey and the others in the group; dinner with Will and his parents; the party and getting drunk, and the budding romance between me and Joey. Throughout my entire story, which was longer than I thought it was going to be since I left out multiple details, Ollie was making faces while Mel made dramatic gasps.

"You crazy girl!" Mel shrieked. "You got drunk without us!"

"It wasn't anything special. Just beer after beer without really realizing it." I shrugged.

"Still! Oh shoot. I'm late for work guys. I'll catch you later." Mel said in one breath. Ollie and I barely had enough time to say good bye before she clicked out of the call.

"Have you asked her out yer?" I asked as soon as it was just me and Ollie. He turned redder then a tomato.

"No. I gotta tell you Nik, it's a lot harder to try without you here to give me a thumbs up." I laughed. Before I got a chance to respond, I heard my dad calling.

"Nik your friends are here!" I looked at my friend on the screen.

"Looks like that's my cue. Don't stress, I'm sure you'll do fine on your own."

"Yeah I guess so. Have a good day Nik."

"You too." I ended the call and did my best to to get ready as quickly as possible. I was in the middle of getting dressed when Vix came into my room. I eyed her as I pulled my shirt on over my bra. She only grinned at me and sat on my bed.

"Is there a reason?"

"You have a thing with my brother." She stated. I nodded.

"Is this the part where you threaten to kill me if I break his heart?" She shook her head.

"Actually no, I had that talk with him instead. I just wanted to ask you something."

"Which is?" I prompted.

"Do you like Will?"

"What?" I spun around to look at her directly. Vix shrugged.

"It's just a question and he is your neighbor. I wouldn't blame you if you did."

"No? It doesn't matter, Vix. I like your brother, and I don't even consider Will a friend."

"Okay!" She hopped off my bed and practically dragged me down the stairs to the others. I saw Joey and smiled. He had gotten a hair cut, making his curls that were a little longer on the top fall in his eyes. He brushed them out of his face and gave me his dimpled smile. I looked over at Cooper, who had also gotten a hair cut, except he just buzzed it all off.

I waved to my dad and we all headed out. Joey and I held hands as we walked behind Vix and Cooper. Joey's hand was warm and he absentmindedly rubbed circles on the back of my hand with his thumb. I familiarized myself with the walk from my house to the town center.
