While Ashton was away the rivers and oakes had become good friends again. Gwendoline and Camilla saw each other in a hair dresser's. Gwendoline said that she was worried about her when Henry was ill and Camilla, who was quite changed after nearly loosing her husband, said that she was sorry that she never came to see after she lost the baby, the reason why she didn't come was because she felt responsible for making her panick and loosing the baby. After an hour of them both talking they decided that what they were doing was silly. After a while they comepletly forgot about it and the two couples became as close as they used to be. Especially Gwendoline and Camille who weren't always that close.

That night a ball was held for the up coming wedding of Daisy and Philip. The room was filled with eyes that stared down at you and hung with a weightlessness that astonished the crowds.  There were lilies filled in fair coloured vases, this created illuminocity which flew through the room.

Ashton was made to go by his parents, it made him feel as if he was intruding, it felt wrong. When Daisy saw him she called him over and they chatted about trivial things.

However across the room Camilla and Gwendoline were looking at the way he smiled when she flipped her hair back and how she laughed with every diminutive joke he made. Camilla sighed.

"Gweny, I think she's making a mistake" Camilla conveyed. Gwendoline laughed.

"I think you're right" she replied. They both gave a cheerful giggle and floated over to the corner to plot, leaving Peter and Henry talking about trivial manly things to do.

Philip strode over to Daisy and Ashton and shook Ashton's hand.
"It is so nice to meet a friend of Daisies" he slyly said.
There conversation continued for a minute until Daisy left and then Philip gave a evil, sturn look at Ashton.
"Look I don't care how you know her, but im getting her money so Back off. Shes mine." He whispered with a hoarse tone.
Ashton couldn't understand what was going on. Why did he see her as an object to be his and why hadn't she seen him the way he really was.
