"Mabet Rose Merry, Don't even dare to call the police", My mother snarled.
With quivering lips and aching limbs, I limped toward the table and made one last attempt toward the phone.

The number was dialled. The line was connecting. She sat on my back. Grabbed my hair in her fists.

"Hello, what is your emergency?", The operator asked.
"Mabet, I'm warning you", My dear mother hissed.
"Hello? Whoever you are, I hope it isn't a prank and if it is, you better run for your life", Operator also seemed mad. 'I wish I could run'.
"Hello, it's my mum, she- a drug addict, help please", I yelled in pain as my mother smashed my head on the floor. Black and darkness all I could see.

'I'm sorry mother I couldn't do it any more'

"Stay on the line, we are tracking your location", operator said.
"Mabet, my dear daughter, give me those packets and I'll leave you unharmed", She said in a soft voice.

"You- mum- why being a manipulative bitch?", I said as I lulled between conscious and unconscious state.
She kicked my sides. Stepped on my back.

"Tell me where you hid them", She yelled and cried. I whimpered in pain and shut my eyes. Then again, cruel conscious brought me back. 'Why, what strength do I've left'

"What do I do now", She muttered and caught her hair in her fists.

"Mabet, you'll regret this day. Watch me, I'll ruin you", She kicked in my abdomen. I turned over with pain. I saw black and darkness twirling.

'But you're my mum. I'm your flesh and blood'

Weird tingling sensation made it's way on my body. The pain died a little. I opened my eyes and saw her looking out of the window.

"No, they're here", She turned and lunged at me.
"Mabet, tell me, where you hid them?", She hissed.

I saw officers dressed in navy blue, rushed in through the door. Female officers got hold of my mother. I got up on my feet.

"It's surprising how she's conscious with that head injury and look at her bruises", One of them, with olive-green eyes said in a low voice. Others nodded.

'Well, ask me, I'm also surprised as you all are'

"Lady, you need a doctor right now. Come with us", Olive-green eyed officer offered.
I tilted my head and looked at my mother, struggling with police, "She has the powders, my daughter have them. Let me take it. Please. I beg you. Only one, if I could get it from the filthy little daughter", She cried and snarled.

A tear slipped through lashes and swept away by the robotic movement of my hand. I couldn't think of getting in the same car with her.
"Dad's on his way, he'll take care of me", I lied.

I removed the cover from the couch and handed the packs to the officer, "Here, all the powders I got from her locker". I wasn't crying anymore.

"You're courageous, young lady", Olive-green eyed officer patted my head.
I slapped it away, "Calling me young lady and treating me as a child, unfair officer", I rocked on my heels.

A toothy grin made way to his face and his eyes lit up. "Officers, head back to the police station", Olive-eyed officer retreated them back to their van and they left with my crying, swearing and yelling mother.

"Oh life how lovely you are", I said out loud and called my Dad. He never picks up though.

"Abba, come home, please. I need you here. Police have taken mum, she-.. I found drugs in her locker and hid them, but- she... I.. Abba?", I said through sobs and whimpers.
It was just a voicemail. Dad didn't pick up. 'He must be in a meeting'.

I was tired. All my wounds were aching. My head spinning and I could not stand any more. My eyes grew heavier and limbs weaker. I tried to make my way on the upstairs but-

"There, there. Let's not make haste", a soft voice. A little whisper near my ear and I shivered. My blood turned cold as there was no one else in the house. I tried to move but somehow my body was stiff and I couldn't open my eyes.

"Don't try to move. You've already suffered enough. Let me help you", It whispered again. Hairs behind my neck stood and I gasped as it's slightly warm fingers grazed my skin.

"I think, not should I remove your head injury or else your father won't believe you".
"Let me take away all the pain".
I, again, tried to move. My soul was ready to jump out of the skin.
"Oh, we are still fighting".
"I think, should I leave something for you to remember me. To call for me, in the times of need", it whispered last time before his fingers brushed slightly upon my eyelids.

The glowing soft lights I felt were no more around me. The presence of the unseen left my side and I fell into darkness.
