7: "Let's make a bet."

The day to go to the buffet finally came. It had only been a couple of days after the assembly and you decided that it wouldn't be fair to make everyone wait on you to celebrate their victory. You were currently getting ready, and you couldn't decide on what to wear.

'Is everyone going to wear something casual? Or are they going to wear their uniform?'

After much contemplation, you decide on something casual. You get quickly dressed and then head out the door when you suddenly run into Ren, who had been leaning against the railing outside your door.

"You ready?" He asks pushing himself forward towards you.

"Ah! What are you doing here?" You ask. You flush embarrassed by his sudden appearance.

'Did he hear me singing while I was getting ready?'

"We're going to the buffet together right?"

"Oh, right," you say nervously.

'When did we decide that?'

"Were you waiting out here for long? You could have knocked on the door to let me know to hurry up."

"I didn't want to rush you," Ren says looking at you. "You look nice."

You blush even harder at his compliment. 'Uhh... I should compliment him too!' You look at him and notice he was dressed casually as well. 'I made the right decision.'

"Thank you. You look nice as well," you respond.

"What about me?" Morgana says popping his head out of Ren's school bag.

"You look cute," you smile. You pet his head and Morgana frowns.

"I'm not cute! I'm handsome!" He huffs.

You tilt your head. "You think so? What if Takamaki likes cute guys better?"

Morgana gasps and contemplates. "You could be right. In that case, I humbly accept your words!"

"What an odd cat," Ren speaks up. You smile even bigger, as you and Ren both knew what was coming next.

"Hey! I'm not a cat!"

You cover your laugh with your hand. 'Morgana really is strange... I wonder if he really is human after all.' After the laughter dies down, it's time to go.

"Let's go. We don't want to be late," you say taking in a deep breath. Ren nods and Morgana gets back inside the bag.

You and Ren walk side by side to the station and wait. The atmosphere suddenly became awkward, as the both of you say nothing to each other.

'Should I make conversation? This silence is making me uncomfortable...'

"S-So," you begin. "Are you excited? What dishes are you looking forward to the most?"

Ren turns to look at you and he smiles. "Yeah, I am. I want to try a little bit of everything they have. I might not get the opportunity to go to this buffet again."
