Chapter 2
My family sat crowded around the small tv in my living room. Kylie and my mom estatic, my older sister Kendall looking worried, my dad looking confused, and my little brother Carl staring ever so innocently at the screen. My eldest sibling, Caleb moved out a year and a half ago, but I can still imagine him sitting on the couch with a book in hand not even caring about the selection. It's not that he was mean about it or anything, he just didn't care. "Good evening Illéa,"Gavril Fadaye announces. "So Prince Ahren of Illéa has become of age and is having his selection in just one week". "Ahren what are you thoughts on this event?" Gavril asked the prince. "Well I am excited, nervous, terrified and happy," he replied. "What are you thoughts Princess Eadlyn?" Gavriel asked gesturing to Ahren's twin sister. "I don't know," she said. "It will definitely be fun to embarrass him in front of all the girls, but I am happy I have a chance to make a friend who's not a royal," she joked chuckling.
"Well let's check out these girls" Gavril said.
I was the only one in my family who entered the contest. Kylie was two years too young and Kendall was still getting over a bad breakup. I wanted to help her so bad at that time, but I had no idea how.
"Delaney Cogan of Columbia, 4". My head snaps at the the television as a girl with dirty blond hair and a charming smile appears on the screen.
"Chrassity Hollers of Carolina, 2". A girl with dark hair and to much bronzer pops up.
I ignore the rest of the names until I hear the one that shocks me.
"Kathleen Dormer of Kent, 5"
I see the picture that was taken of me on the screen. As the photo flashes on the screen the prince smiles.
"OH MY GOD KATHLEEN THE PRINCE SMILED AT YOU ENTRY YOUR GOING YO BE A PRINCESS!" Kylie screams. Calm down Kath, C-A-L-M down. "Oh please I will probably be gone the first week," I joke, but it comes out like more of a squeak. My family spends the rest of the night raving, until we fall asleep.
