It was almost time.

The boy looked at the sleeping figure of the blonde little girl. She sounded so peacefully asleep, an innocent little child. He put his hands on her cheek, relieved for the fact she will be the last one he needs to sacrifice.

"I'm sorry, Conny." He whispered under his breath.

He thought of at least saving his best friends, Emma and Norman. Both of them had survived for long as they were intelligent and wise. 'I've come this far, there's no backing down.'

The children gathered around the front door. Some were smiling and others were about to cry. Standing before them was a little girl, holding her favorite bunny. Don, an elder boy who is particularly close to her cannot hold back his tears. It was in fact a sorrowful sight.

Conny was going to be with a new family. The small girl was indeed excited of seeing the outside world and her new parents. Though the thought of leaving her family she had known growing up made her cry.

"I don't want to leave! I wanna stay with everyone!" She said while tears streamed down her face.

"Let's go, Conny." A woman in a black and white uniform, called out to her. She was called Mama among the children.

The door closed.

Silence.

Everyone was silent. They all went to do their chores before heading straight to bed. It was going to be lonely without Conny around, Don thought.

"Little Bunny?!" Emma shrieked in surprise. The toy which was Conny's favorite was left behind. "What are we going to do?! They're gone."

Ray went in the room, holding a lamp.
"You can still make it, the gate still had some lights on."

Emma and Norman looked at each other for a moment before nodding to each other. Both of them ran out of the room leaving Ray, sighing. The house was silent once again.

The children had gone to bed, everyone was asleep by this time. The tasks were done, as seen by Ray.

His friends were currently now outside. They were about to face something very
dreadful. His plan was working.

He decided to wander around the house to see if the children are really asleep. As it was his duty to do that. He went upstairs, making every step fast. The boy wanted to go to sleep early, and that made him rush his job.

The hallways upstairs were empty. No sign of any running children. It was indeed dark but the moonlight went through the window making the hallway a little bit more visible.
