Your grandma is right. The book and the stylus are thousands of years old. And they are not just some family heirlooms.

Odin's words echoed in your head as you laid in the big and comfy bed. He had told you that a race, called the Nephimil, once existed and that they fleed to Midgard as the dark elves haunted them down for still unknown reasons. They were giants, partly frost giants, partly Asgardians. As they went to Midgard, they gave up their abilities to hide between the humans. They became as mortal as the humans and soon, there was no difference between them. Previously, they protected the weak ones and the animals from the ones that wanted to subjugate them. They were powerful and had black marks on their skin that gave them abilities no one else had in this intensity. He also told you that there were rumors that they hid in the cold and wooded areas inhabited by the Northmen.

Your heart had stopped as you understood. You were from Germany, once inhabited by the germanic tribes. Your family had always only married in German families (no, don't think rasistic. It's just for the plot. Marrying other people is perfectly fine) and now you asked if they had always known? What if they only behaved that way so that one day you were born? On the other hand, your mom thought your granny was a bit crazy to believe in this fairytale.

Your head was spinning and your mind was razing. Not able to bear it anymore, you got up. Your feet tapped as you walked over the dark wooden floor. Your night vision rune helped you to see as you made your way through the dark hall. Soon you stood in front of Loki's door and knocked at it. For a moment you thought about going back to your own camber as the door opened.

A candle illuminated a pale face with high cheekbones. The heart in your chest nearly stopped at the sign. He looked even more handsome than usually if that was even possible, even if sleep dripped from his form.

"Is everything alright?" Loki's soft voice asked.

"Yea, I... just can't sleep," you signed. Without another word, the Prince stepped to the side, allowing you in. You accepted the offer and stepped in. Even if it was dark, you could still see that the walls were pained in a light green and whines were painted in gold onto them.

"What keeps your mind busied?" Loki asked, sitting down on the bed. He gestured for you to sit down next to him. Your form sank down next to his and cold hands held yours gently.

"Everything. I mean, I just found out that I'm a Nephilim and not a Modgardian as I thought," you stated. Loki hummed in approval. You searched for the right words to say what was on your mind but the thoughts disappeared one by one and your mind slowed down. Minutes or hours passed and you noticed how you became sleepy. Your eyes got heavy and at some point your head fell to the side, landing on Loki's shoulder. The last thing you felt was that you shifted and that an arm wrapped around your body.

The next morning you awoke to the sound of a singing bird and an arm, tightening its grip on you. You nuzzled your head deeper in the soft material in your face and were about to fall asleep again as a kind voice spoke up.

"Aah, here you are dear. We were worried." You and Loki both shoot up, looking at who had spoken. Frigga stood in the camber facing the bookshelf, her hair golden in the sunlight.

"Mother!" Loki said shocked and a hint of anger in his voice. Frigga turned around, looking at you two.

"You're decent, that's good. I allowed myself to bring some food with me since you have missed breakfast. I'm sure you two have plans for the day," she smiled kindly, gesturing towards plates with food. Without another word, the woman left through the door. You looked at Loki and giggled at the look on his face. He looked confused, disgusted and embarrassed at the same time. You kissed his cheek and got out of bed. You saw an outfit of yours laying on a chair and decided to put it on.

After Loki changed as well and the two of you had breakfast, your arm linked with his and you made your way through the palace. The dark-haired God showed you the library, the hot springs and the training hall.

As the sun was slowly setting you were walking through the gardens, leaning your head against Loki's shoulder. Even if it was supposed to be winter, the air was warm, not like the day before.

"Loki? Why isn't it cold today? Yesterday evening as we walked through the palace, it was freezing and now it is warm like in spring," you asked. The man by your side chuckled lightly.

"You'll see, weather works differently at Asgard. Usually, it is warm and sunny and the water is coming from Hvergelmir in Nefilheim. It's only cold when the rightful King of Jutunheim wants it to be or when the convergence is messing with the physics of the realms," Loki answered. You were confused.

"Why would the King of Jutunheim want that it was cold in Asgard?" you asked. You were honestly questioning this fact. He was King of Jutunheim and not of Asgard. Why in hell should he care about how the weather was?

"Maybe because he wants the woman on his side to walk close to him to stay warm or so that he could wrap her into a beautiful cape and make every other woman jealous?" Loki suggested, a smirk on his lips.

"And which case was it yesterday?" you asked, an idea flashing in your head.

"Yesterday the rightful King of the frost giants wanted to put a cape on the woman he has deep feelings for," he said as if it was obvious. You stopped and made Loki look at you.

"You don't want to tell me you are the King of Juthunheim?" you asked not believing a word you said could be true. A small smile tucked at his lips.

"Well I'm the rightful King but my cousin is ruling at this moment. To be honest, every frost giant can cause the cold to spread," he said, playing with your hand. Your mouth hung open. How in Rowling's name could he be the God of mischief, a prince of Asgard, a frost giant and the rightful King of Juthunheim at the same time?

This man was full of surprises, secrets and mysteries.
