The last days, you had thought about the winter ball a  lot. You were unsure about how you should act and what to wear. Yes, you had a lot of beautiful dresses but none of them seemed matching for a royal winter ball. Frustrated you fell backwards on your bed. Why was it so difficult to find something suitable?

As if Loki had sensed your stress, he opened the door. His eyebrows furrowed as he saw you laying there, your arms crossed over your chest. After a hand full of long steps, the bed next to you dipped. A long and slender figure laid down next to you and cold fingers brushed the strands of hair out of your face.

"Darling, what is upsetting you?" the raven-haired prince asked. It took you a moment to find the right words but finally, you were able to answer.

"It's just, I don't know what to wear. It's only days till the ball and I don't have anything suitable," you reasoned, throwing your hands in the air. A light chuckle escaped Loki's lips.

"Also, I don't know what would be suitable for a winter ball at the palace of Asgard..." you stated, a shy blush on your face. Now Loki was laughing full-hearted and your heart swelled.

"You really think too much about this but why don't we look together? Maybe I can help you here a little," the man next to you suggested.

The both of you stood up and looked into your wardrobe and pulled out one dress after the other. After half an hour, there was no dress left.

"Well, it appears rather difficult to find something that would match an Asgardian event. I'm not saying that your dresses are not beautiful; the opposite is the case. But they are not suitable," Loki stated, his hand on his cheek.

"I've told you so," you said, looking at the pile of dresses on the ground.

"You know what? I'll care about your dress. Worry about what else you'll take with you. We'll leave with Thor in two days," he stated and looked you up and down. You nodded and pulled out your suitcase. It was way easier to decide on what to take with you now. It didn't take long before you were done packing and your suitcase was filled with no space left.

Happily, you fell onto the bed and decided to read.

--- Time skip ---

Today was the day that you were going to Asgard and to be honest, you were more than nervous. Thor, Loki and you were standing on the heliport. Your stylus was clenched tightly in your hand. If you were able to lose anything, this was the only material thing that you were never allowed to lose.

"Are you ready?" Loki asked softly, placing his hands on your arms. You nodded, not so sure yourself. Loki sensed it and pulled you tight, his arms wrapped tightly around you.

"If it calms you, I'll not let go of you, whatever will happen," the God whispered into your ear. You nodded and felt Loki look at Thor.

"Are we ready?" the booming voice of the God of thunder asked. Loki gave him a nod and grabbed your suitcase, not letting you slip one bit away.

"Heimdall, we're ready!" Thor shouted and your arms wrapped instantly around Loki's lanky, yet strong form. Only one moment later, there was no solid ground anymore. Your heart beat rapidly, your eyes closed tightly and you pressed yourself even tighter to Loki's body.

After what felt like an eternity, but  really were only some seconds, you felt how your feet made contact with a surface. Your body bounced a bit and was steadied by the body in your arms. You still didn't dare to open your eyes.

"Hey (Y/N), don't you want to see anything here?" Loki asked, loosening his grip on you.

"So I can open my eyes again?" you asked back, not moving a millimeter. A chuckle rumbled in the chest your head was pressed against.

"Of course. Why shouldn't you? There was and is no reason for you not to," he said calming. Slowly your grip loosened and your head pulled itself from the, in armor covered, chest. You peaked your eyes open and saw a golden room. Your eyes roamed around and landed on a man with dark hair and fascinating golden eyes.

"(Y/N), this is Heimdall," Thor introduced you. You let go of Loki and walked over to Heimdall. You extended your hand to shake his but he turned it and kissed your knuckles. You were surprised and threw a look at Loki.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Miss (Y/L/N). Prince Thor, Prince Loki, your parents, the King and the Queen are going to greet you at the ball. Till then, you are free to go," he stated, letting go of your hand.

You went back to Loki's side and hooked your arm into his. Your suitcase was pulled behind as you and Loki walked over the rainbow bridge.

If you wanted to take in and describe everything you saw, your life would not be long enough to finish off. Your eyes darted around all the way to the palace and your moth was lightly opened. At the entrance, Thor left and an old woman took his place. Her name was Càirdeil and she was more than nice.

"You, my dear child, will stay in this chamber here," she said as you stopped in a small corridor. On your left, there was a creme door with flower engravings. Càirdeil opened it and a room filled with light relieved itself. The first thing you saw, was a large window and a balcony on the left side of it. A deep green whine seemed to creep in through the wall in a nice way. It made its way along the wall, around a corner to a sloping wall with a big creme wardrobe, thats' designs matched the doors. Also, the wall had a door in it, that lead to the bathroom. Partly under, partly on the right of the window, there was a big double bed. An also creme secretaire was pushed up against the right wall.

You entered in awe. Never have you seen such a beautiful room. Càirdeil followed you but Loki stayed in the hallway. You spotted him and asked if he didn't want to come in. He denied and excused himself, telling you, he had to care about something before the ball. You were a little hurt but were fast busied again by Càirdei.

"Don't be sad my dear. The Prince is surely in his chambers down the hall. Come, we will get you a bath and make you ready for the ball," the kind woman said. Her name was really suiting her.

You tied your hair into a bun and followed her. Also the bathroom was held in a warm white color. A big bathtub with golden heels stood in the middle and just like the bedroom, a big window filled the room with the light of the slowly setting sun.

Càirdeil insisted on assisting you with your bath and so a constant blush colored your cheeks. It took nearly half an hour to get ready since Càirdeil didn't know what you were referring to when you for example asked for your razor. But it was nice, talking to her and she told you a lot about Loki.

As she gave you a towel, it knocked at the door. The door closed and you dried yourself off. Outside you heard voices for a moment but soon it was quiet again. Càirdeil came back in and grinned at you.

"It's time to get you ready. Prince Loki is going to get you soon," she stated. You followed her into the bedroom still wrapped in a towel.

"How about we start with your hair?" the woman asked, standing in front of the secretaire. You opened your hair and got your make-up bag, before sitting down. Càirdeil brained the hair on the right side, taking strands from the downside. Only a single curl was left open to frame your face. The rest of your hair was pulled to the back of your head, covering your ear lightly. A hairband was used to fix your hair, just to twist the ponytail that originated into a loose and puffy bun. Càirdeil covered up the hairband with the braid and clipped white pearls and green gems into it. While she was busied, you did your make-up. As she was done, you smiled.

"You look stunning my dear," she smiled at you causing a shy blush to rise.

"Now to your dress. The Prince has brought it earlier. He will be here soon."

Càirdeil turned to the bed and lifted up the most beautiful dress you've ever seen.
