Darkness, This was all Amaryllis saw. Never ending darkness. She wasn't sure if she was alive. Maybe she died on that battlefield. It was quite comforting as horrible as it sounds. She didn't have to see people die day in day out. She didn't have to give up her food so children could eat even tough she knew they would die the next day, and even if they survived the looks in their eyes would be changed forever. But a small part in her wasn't relieved with the thought of dying. That small part wanted to know what it was to be free, to really be alive.
A million thoughts were running through her head while she was surrounded by pitch black. She was falling. She could tell this by the awful feeling in her stomach. But if she was falling where was she going? Hell maybe? It wouldn't surprise her if she was going to hell, she had already been there. Nothing could be worse than that horrible place. Then suddenly she felt a harsh pain going through her body and all the air got knocked out of her lungs. She was laying on a cold surface and groaned. She tried to opened her eye but was blinded by the brightness of light and quickly shut her eyes again. After a few attempts of opening her eyes she started to see shadows and figures. Every time she opened her eyes again everything became a little bit clearer. Then she recognized the windows, the ugly glass stained windows..... she was back
