Sighing softly I lay on my bed, staring at the white ceiling above me, my limbs sprawled all about. The crew notified me today that tomorrow was Christmas... Which only reminds me that I'm in a different reality, no where NEAR my family.. will I ever be able to see them again... I miss them all so much... I miss my aunt's Husband Eric and how dry he cooks his turkey at Thanksgiving.. My grandpa who was practically a father to me since my own was such a scumbag.. I miss my mom.. my pets... God I miss them all so much.
A tear slowly slides down my cheek while I think about all the family members I'll never be able to see again.. The price to pay for going to your favorite show's world I guess... The door chimes alerting me to someone wishes to enter, interrupting me from my depressed thoughts. Wiping the tears from my eyes I look at myself in the mirror. Fuck my eyes are red.. shit.. Time to face the wolves. "Come in.."
The door swishes open and Spock enters my room, seemingly holding something behind his back. "The Captain has told me that it is the time of one of your earth customs. The Christmas gift exchange. I am aware that it is one day early, but I wish to give this gift to you now."
My eyes widen in surprise. He's giving me another gift? "Spock.. you didn't have to get me anything-"
"On the contrary Alex. I believe it would benefit your overall mental health. I have researched that humans experience depression around holiday events when they are away from their famial group. I hope this gift shall ease that." Spock pulls out a large plain bag behind his back, setting it down in the floor with a thudd. "Coincidentally I have discovered that humanity feels comforted when they are enveloped in a low amount of weight. I have found, that a blanket covering filled with small beads aid in the release of anxiety's and depression. Simulating human contact and the feeling of being in a 'secure' hold."
"Y-you got me a weighted blanket?" Looking down to the bag then to Spock whom nods at me.
"Affirmative." Beckoning me to the blanket within the bag, I stand up from my bed to grab it. Pulling it out of the bag with some effort I find that the cloth on the outside is soothing to touch.. Which is surprising since I hate the feeling of most fabrics on my skin. Wrapping it around my body I sigh in contentment closing my eyes, enjoying the weight surrounding me... Feels like I'm being hugged..
"Thank you so much Spock. I've always wanted one of these." Smiling at him I snuggle further into the heavy fabric.
A light green tint rises his cheeks and ear tips. Looking elsewhere his brain stutters. "It.. was no issue. I can assure you.."
"Oh! I um.. didn't realize how close to Christmas it was when we were at the space station.. So I couldn't buy you anything.. So instead I drew you this." Walking over to my desk, the blanket still wrapped around my body. Opening a small drawer on the bottom I pull out the piece of paper. Turning around I hand it to Spock with a smile. Arching his brow with intrigue he looks down at it. Turning it over seeing a drawing of a Sehlat in a science officers shirt with Vulcan ears, giving the Vulcan hand greeting with it's large paws.
"I.. thank you. This is most amusing. The Sehlat is depicted as me correct?" Glancing at me before returning his gaze to the drawing. Commiting all of it to memory.
"Y-yea. I worked on it for a couple days... I've had the idea of it in my mind for a while."
"I thank you for this. I shall get it framed, for safe keeping." A ghost of a smile appears on Spocks face before disappearing without a trace. "Alex.. Are you going to be eating with anyone tomorrow night?- for your Christmas dinner?" Spock's back straightens taught as he puffs out his chest.
