Zion was dying.
The poisoned demon was rapidly losing weight and none of the beings knew how to help. They did know they had to get him out of public since the humans would've freaked out if they saw what was happening. Thankfully, Ellette found an abandoned farmhouse with runes on the outside of it. According to the fae, the runes protected the home from all evil; so, if anyone were to come home, they probably would let the beings live. Hopefully.
Malak felt helpless, something he seemed to feel a lot. The young angel had no idea how to help his mate. His healing abilities weren't able to heal Zion nor did the angel know of any remedies that might help. What good is it to have the ability to heal if he couldn't even heal his mate?
"I'll be fine, Angel," the demon managed to croak out. He was in a lot of pain and despite dying before, he was terrified. Not that he feared death, but he hated the idea of leaving his mate alone. Malak was a strong angel; the demon couldn't deny that. However, he wasn't the best fighter and would most likely be killed in a fight if the demon wasn't there. That was his actual fear. That's what terrified him.
Malak sighed, "You cannot lie to me. I can feel your pain. As much as I wished it was true, you are not fine. You are dying again." His eyes watered a bit, but he wiped the tears away. He's already cried three times in the last couple of hours. It was rather exhausting. He wanted to be strong for his mate, yet it was so hard when the angel felt so helpless.
"We'll figure something out," he weakly, but confidently stated. "You've got to be optimistic, Malakai. We're going to figure everything out together."
"Together," he whispered, pecking the demon's lips. The fae smiled at them but stayed away. She wanted to ask them so many questions, though she knew better than to ask. The mates were struggling enough already, and she knew they needed to be alone.
Like Malak, she also felt helpless. If she hadn't spent so much time talking to the horseman, they wouldn't have come into the café. It was her fault that he's dying, and she had no clue how to help. But maybe, just maybe, she could.
Hesitantly, she went up to the mates and told them everything she knew about George Smith. She had no clue if the information she had was helpful, but it didn't hurt to try. Both beings listened intently to everything she said. Though most of what she knew was random personal facts.
Malak, however, heard something that caught his attention. What George Smith's house looked like. And, in a town like this, it should be easy to find. Especially for an angel.

Malak was right. Finding the stupid human's house was actually quite easy. He lived about five minutes away from where they were staying in fact. It was a large, more modern home like the fae said. Everything about it screamed perfectionist, which didn't fit the aesthetic of the town. It stood out like a sore thumb.
When the angel sensed the horseman inside, he decided to let himself in. The stupid human didn't deserve his manors nor his kindness. Maybe he would regret it later but right now, he was too angry to care. In all his years of life, he's never been this angry at anyone. The only reason he hadn't tried to kill the guy was because he had information that could save Zion. However, it was enough for him to feel the pressure of his power building in his chest, growing with the anger.
The human looked shocked to see the tiny angel in his house. To him, he didn't see the angel as a threat. Even though he was only human, with a few special abilities, he thought he could easily overpower the angel.
"You know breaking and entering is illegal, right?" He sarcastically asked.
"As is murder, yet you did not seem to mind," the angel replied.
The human smiled, "How is that demon doing? Is he dead yet?"
Malak glared at the human. The power was growing stronger. He hated George more than he hated anyone, which maybe was a light comparison since he didn't hate anyone. "He will be fine since you will tell me how to heal him," the angel said sternly. Though the angel liked his baby face and small height, especially when Zion hugged him, he wished he could be more intimidating in moments like these. Then he could scare the human into giving him the information he needed.
"Where's the fun in that?" George sneered.
"If you do not, I will kill you."
He laughed at the small angel. No one would be afraid of someone like him. He was simply too cute, innocent, and harmless. "I'd like to see you try," he challenged.
The angel finally released his anger, nothing was holding him back now. It was unlikely that the cocky human would tell Malak what he needed; however, he hoped that if he was scared enough, he would. Though it was still highly unlikely. The power finally exploded from his chest, knocking down everything in its past including the stupid human.
George let out a painful groan. How the Hell did the pathetic angel manage to do that? From what he knew of angels, they couldn't do whatever the Hell he just did. Quickly, he got up, ran into his kitchen, and grabbed a special dagger. He didn't know who gave it to him. George assumed it was the same person who talked to him in his head, guiding him through the supernatural world and being a horseman. The knife used to belong to a demon and it had the ability to send anyone's souls to Hell, including angels'.
Malak saw the knife and immediately caused it to fly into his hand. "Tell me how to heal my soulmate," the angel demanded, his tone shattering many glass objects and the dagger. He didn't mean for it to happen, but the power was taking over for him. He was losing control.
The angel had to take a deep breath and think of his mate in order to calm down. His power felt less aggressive within which made him feel a bit calmer. He wouldn't let his anger control him nor the power. If he was going to kill the human, he'd be in complete control."Never," the human managed to scoff despite his fear. He wouldn't let the angel win. Never. He'd rather die than give up.
Humans were very easily hurt; therefore, they were easy to kill. Malak knew that for sure. Despite the fact he despised the human, he would never be cruel enough to kill him painfully. With angelic speed, the angel reached the human and sent all his power through his hands into the human's brain. Within a second, his brain overloaded causing the human to collapse and die.
Malak didn't mind the fact he killed someone. This caused him to worry a bit. He didn't know if he had a demonic side because of his parents, but if he did, this had to be it. However, he didn't have time to worry about such things. His mate was dying, and he needed to figure out how to help him. Quickly but thoroughly, he searched the human's house. Only stopping when he found something suspicious, like a red diary with detailed descriptions of everything the human did. Of course, Malak didn't know that because he couldn't read. He did, however, realize it was important and took it with him back to Zion.
