1:20 am. I can't sleep, I'm just thinking too much. I do what I usually do, stare at my ceiling. There's nothing else I can do besides one thing, call him. I don't want to keep him up, that's already bad enough because I'm the one keeping him up. My thoughts were stopped by my phone vibrating, I look at the screen and see that it's George. I answer.

"Sorry for calling so late, I can't sleep."
"I can't sleep either."
"Let's be sleepless together." He says in a groggy way. We were silent for a few seconds.
"George?"
"Yes?"
"Oh, I thought you fell asleep,"
"Hahah, I usually fall asleep first on calls."
"Yeah, you do." I start to think about early this afternoon. "A little birdie told me that you told Sapnap that I liked someone."
"He told you?" He sounded more awake.
"Yeah, we talked about it a little bit."
"To be fair, you refused to tell me who it was, so I asked Sapnap."
"I would be upset, but I would of done the same thing."

He laughs.

"So?"
"So what?"
"Are you going to tell me who it is?" I felt a lump in my throat.
"Why do you wanna know so badly?"
"Because,"
"Because?"
"I'm your best friend and deserve to know these things,"
"Sure you do."
"It's not that much different from when you told me about your crush, Lexi in high school."
"It is different."
"How?"

Because, it's you.

"You probably won't know them."
"We literally live a few meters away, how will I not know them?"

'Yeah I got you, and I didn't mean to stress you out cause I thought it was someone from like the grocery store or something.'

"Because it's a random girl from the grocery store."
"Grocery store?"
"Yeah, grocery store."
"So you're telling me you bumped into a girl and now you have a crush on her."
"Yes." He pauses.
"Okay?"

"Well, do you like anyone?" I ask.
"Well,"
"Well?"
"Yes, kind of."
"Who is the lucky person of your dreams?"
"Well, I don't want to say so I don't jinx the possibility of us getting together, but they're amazing, like they have the most amazing laugh that can brighten up anyone's day. I always finding myself with them on my mind no matter what. It could just be me, but I have fallen for them, hard."

I got butterflies in my stomach, I feel the same way, with him.

"Wow, they must be lucky."
"They are, but I'm getting mixed signals if they like me or not, but I dunno."
"Why do you think they don't like you?"
"I feel like they're trying to push me away."
"Push you away?"
"Yeah, like one minute we are the closest friends that could ever exist, but the next they just don't seem like they want to talk to me."
"I'm sorry,"
"It's fine, it happens." He yawns, "Thanks for talking to me, I'm going to go to bed now."
"Yeah, thanks for talking to me."
"You're welcome, and goodnight."
"Goodnight." I hang up and put my phone on my chest. I was tired too, so I place my phone back onto my night stand and I fall asleep.

It's very dark. I look around and see nothing but blackness.

"So you're awake?" A familiar voice asks. I turn around and see George standing there with his arms crossed.
"I guess I am," Once he starts to walks towards me, the black darkness starts to turn into my room in a hazy way.
"You don't look you best, you look sad."
"Sad? How?"
"You don't have the energy you used to have," He's now close to me.
"I guess I'm tired,"
"You guess, but I know you're lying."
"Lying?"
"It's because of me." Those words hit me like a sharp knife.
"Because of you? No that's not why-"
"You're lovesick, you want me but you know you can't have me because of the fear of messing things up. Messing up our relationship, whether that's a friendship or something more."
"No, you like someone else, that's not me."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Does this help you figure that out." He grabs the collar of my shirt and kisses me. My body first tenses up, then relaxes as he puts his hand from my shirt to my jaw line. He pulls away.

"Don't overthink it so much, love." He pats me on the shoulder and leaves my room, but instead of a hallway its the darkness again.

"Wait, George." He stops dead in his tracks and turns around to face me again. "Did that kiss mean anything?"
"I think that's something you should figure out yourself," His voice was soft, he walks out the door then closes it. The room starts to melt back into the darkness.

Alone, again. I sit down into what felt like nothing and put my head into my arms.

"I kind of missed having you around, when we were little kids and had sleepovers like every weekend at our old neighborhood." George says.
"What?"
"I missed being young stupid kids."

It's from the rooftop. I can't tell if this is a dream or a nightmare. I stood up from the roof.

"Dream? Please be careful." George says kind of scared. I step forward and slip. "DREAM!" The words become muffled. I open my eyes to see that I'm under water.

"Clay?" George says kind of muffled. I get out from under the water.
"Yeah George?"
"Clay, you need to be more quiet, we're not supposed to be here."

The pool we snuck into.

"We need to get out soon, don't you think?"
"Yeah definitely," I jump up and splash into the water and it goes dark.

I wake up, what the hell was that? I check the time and see that it's 8:00 am.

I don't know what that was, a dream or a nightmare.
