I sat next to Ron throughout breakfast and things seemed to be normal, we made jokes and talked about anything we could. We then realized that Christmas break was upon us which meant another trip to the Weasley's.

"are we having another DA meeting before break?" Hermione asked as we walked to class, watching as Ron practically stared at her, almost drooling.

"i think we should, we're going to be away for a few weeks" i shrugged, Harry giving a quick nod before we entered potions.

We all sat around each other, Hermione and I being the only ones in the group to really pay attention of course. Ron being distracted by Hermione and Harry being distracted by anything in general. He seemed off, like he was overthinking something.

What could he be thinking about?

By dinner the word had gone around about the meeting before our break, not much happened during the week, the only exciting thing that would happen was the meeting.

Umbridge had decided to check classes in between school hours and question the professors and although it was funny seeing how she would embarrass them, it was quite uncomfortable to see.

eventually as the day came around we all met at the room of requirements and spoke within the groups since everyone had their own little friend group.

i walked over to Neville who seemed to be a little more tense than usual.

"hey, you okay? you seem a little off today"

"its just, todays meeting. i'm not sure if i'll be able to do the spell" he spoke softly.

"Neville you're a very intelligent person, you're also braver than you think. i'm sure that whatever Harry throws at us you'll be fine" i gave him a reassuring smile.

"thank you Y/n"

"alright everyone could i have your attention?" Harry spoke out, making everyone die their conversations down to focus on him.

"today we'll be learning how to cast the patronus charm. this is one of the most important charms to learn as it is extremely useful and serious situations" he began to walk around the room, catching everyones eyes.

Cho flashed him a smile, then locked eyes with me before turning away to look at him again.

"I want all of you to think of a happy memory, one that's strong enough to help you cast this charm. I'll show you an example of what a patronus could look like" he stood straight and focused for a moment before exclaiming "expecto patronum" from there a stag appeared, running across the room before disappearing into thin air.

everyone became excited that soon enough people began to yell the words out. for some it was a lot easier to cast, others struggled within it.

i stood with Neville and cheered him on as he tried casting the charm, it didn't take long for me to cast it so the best i could do was try to help him with it.

eventually, Neville successfully casted the charm and everyone in the room surrounded him, patting him on the back and such. i had never seen Neville smile that big.

the meeting soon ended and as people began to walk out i decided to stay a bit longer to walk with Harry. I stood near the doors, watching as Cho stood in front of the mirror, looking at the picture of Cedric. as much as she irritated me at times, i couldn't help but feel bad for her. she had been through a lot the past year and it must've been hard for her.

i turned to look at Harry and watched as he walked towards Cho's direction. i swallowed hard and felt my heart began to race. he was stopped by Fred and George who began to talk to him about something that i could not hear since we were at a distance.

Harry began to walk again as I watched Fred and George walk towards me, glancing back at Harry once more.

"come on Y/n let's go, looks like Harry's going to be busy" Fred said as George flashed a small smile, wrapping his arm around my shoulder as we walked out.

i looked back once more, watching as Cho stepped closer to Harry. as the doors closed behind us i felt my heart fall to my stomach.

"you okay Y/n?" George asked.

I forced a smile on my face, "I'm fine".
