The Crow's Call (An Overwatch Story)

Part 9: First Mission

Widow came to visit for a few more days, always letting me know by text beforehand.

When I told her I was assigned to my first mission, she pushed that fact that I needed lots of rest, and didn't want to disturb me.

At 5 AM I was called in for briefing.

Full gear, drinking my morning coffee.

Doomfist had been the one briefing me.

Doomfist: "So, your mission is to kill a new munitions dealer who's been working with overwatch. Our contact has informed us that he has intel on the location of our HQ. He must be eliminated at once."

Crow: "Understood."

He handed me a file with a location and face.

Doomfist: "Dismissed."

I went and retrieved my weapons, my Frankenstein sniper, and my beretta.

I also found a ballistic knife, must have been a little gift from someone.

I slipped it into its sleeve and clipped it onto my calf holster.

Sombra caught me walking out of my room.

Sombra: "First mission huh? You nervous?"

I scoffed

Crow: "Do you know how many millions of times I've done this?"

(Props to you if you get the reference :)

She gave me a disgusting look and stormed off

I headed to the dropship and took off to the target.

Maybe I am an assassin now.

We landed in Frankfurt, Germany, about 16 hours later, around 11 PM.

I faded into the night, and scaled the famous, Commerzbank Tower, waiting for the dealer to arrive.

I sat atop the building, before I heard a voice behind me.

??: "Hey kid."

Crow: "Jack?"

Jack: "As long as you wear that emblem..."

He pointed to my Talon emblem on my shoulder

Jack: "Then you have no right to call me Jack."

Crow: "Then what do I call you?"

He laughed it off

Jack: "How'd you escape the police?"

Crow: "Some friends came to my aid. Something I doubt you would have done."

Jack: "I may have, if you agreed to come with us."

He cocked his pulse rifle

Jack: "Hands up. I'm turning you in myself."

I still kept my eyes down my scope.

Target came into sight. I had time to teach ol 76 here a lesson.

I kneeled, creating the illusion that I was surrendering, but I grabbed my ballistic knife.

I noticed it was retractable, using the power of gravity

I shot the knife into his leg and immediately retracted it

He screamed in pain and I shot up with my boots, floating to the side of the building and sticking to its exterior.

I readied my rifle and found my target.

I lined up their head and adjusted for the distance.

The crow appeared.

*BOOM*

The target dropped dead and I floated back to the top of the building.

Crow: "No hard feelings Jack."

I called for the dropship

"Target down. Requesting evac. I've got a prisoner too."

Jack: "Fuck. You. They'll come for me."

Crow: "Not fast enough.."

I knocked him out with a pistol whip

The drop shop arrived and I boarded with Jack.

When we arrived, Doomfist requested my presence immediately, along with the prisoner.

Doomfist: "If it isn't my favorite Assassin. I hear you've taken a prisoner?"

Crow: "Yes sir, We've got him right her for you."

A few talon soldiers ushered in a struggling Jack Morrison.

Doomfist: "My God... It's really him.."

Doomfist gazed in awe.

Jack raised his tired head to look at Doomfist

Jack: "Either you've got a lazy eye or a lack of respect, which is it?" (I'm on fire with these references)

Doomfist stared at Jack

(authors note: Doomfist will be referred to as Akande from now on, which is his real name)

Akande: "Oh we're going to have fun with you" he bellowed

Akande: "Take him to a cell. Make sure it's nice and comfortable for our new friend.."

The talon soldiers dragged Jack out.

I would ask what they were going to do to him, but I don't give a flying fuck about my betrayer.

Moments later I received a text from Sombra

Sombra: "I just saw Jack Morrison being dragged down the hallway to the cells. Did you do what I think you did?"

Crow: "I did exactly what you think I did."

Sombra: "Congratulations, how about we all go out tonight, Me, You, Gabe (Reaper), and Amèlie? To celebrate your success."

Crow: "Sounds great."

I shut my phone off and headed to my room, I was tired as all hell, I hadn't slept in about a full day..
