Cat Chapter 31

"So," Hotaru started, "mind telling me now why we're here with this demon?"

Hotaru and Sanzo are currently in a vacant room in the headquarters, Izumi still tied laying on the ground while snoring loudly. When their group arrived the next day, her dear little partner had dragged her inside the room, without letting her see anyone they know.

She may have gotten a few hours of rest, but Hotaru can't help but feel like something was wearing her down. Her arms feels heavy and there was a constant pounding in her head. And the stab wound on her side was throbbing so much. Nothing is fun anymore.

'Coma actually sounds good right now,' she mused.

Sanzo motioned for her to sit anywhere as he sat on a stool, so Hotaru proceed to slump bonelessly on the floor near the sleeping demon. He raised an eyebrow at her question.

"You seriously haven't figured it out yet?" He said, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "Iguro-san and Kanroji-san told me you're observant, so why are you being an idiot now? You have a dumb switch there or something?"

"Excuse me?"

He continued like he didn't heard her. "Oyakata-sama gave his permission of taking this demon as long as she won't harm anyone. If she even try hurting a single slayer, she will be killed immediately," He said. "She'll be my responsibility since I'm the one who took her here."

"Wait, but who is she?!" Hotaru stressed, sitting up to look at her.

"Take a guess."

Hotaru deadpanned at him, unimpressed. "Girlfriend?"

Sanzo returned her look. "I don't swing that way."

"Wait what really??" Hotaru blink.

"Aww nooo." Izumi whined.

Hotaru only glanced once at the now conscious demon. "You like guys?" She asked.

"I like both actually, but I'd rather not have anything to do with this demon. I'm surprised you didn't know that yet." He said, before narrowing his eyes on her. "You're not homophobic, aren't you?"

"No. Actually we kinda ship you with Sanemi and Giyuu."

"Who's we?"

"Um excuse me..?" Izumi said.

"Mitsuri and Shinobu."

"That's not surprising."

"Hellooo?" Izumi called.

"So who is this ugly?" Hotaru asked, pointing at the pouting demon.

"I'm here, you know–"

"She's the one who had defeated beasts and demons to save the town decades ago." He said, smirking at her blank expression.

Hotaru turned to Izumi slowly. "Maiden Savior is a demon? This is ridiculous."

"You lot are too harsh on me," She grumbled.

"Maiden Savior," Sanzo started.

"Oh so now you're gonna talk to me–?"

"I'm gonna get straight to the point." He told firmly. Izumi straightened up from the sudden authority in his tone, Hotaru snapping out of her daze.

"In a few months, we're gonna end this battle between humans and demons for good. Work with us demon slayers to defeat Muzan. If you do refuse, then we'll kill you immediately."

Hotaru let him talk, since he was really the one who will be responsible for the demon. He's the more intelligent and their tactican at this point. She just hopes he knows what he's doing.
