Beginning to wither and crack, they have turned my soil to mere dust and ash
See what they have done to me, stealing all I own
Suffocating me in the dense, smoky air, smothering me with heat
Destroying all I have laboured over in one heartbreaking sweep.Feel what they have done to me, as I choke on the lies
Skim the eroded land like discarded debris, twisted and tortured by the winds
Am powerless as they slice down the trees I planted with these bloody hands
Watered with my own tears, and nurtured with the very heart they tear apart.Watch as they drop me from the highest precipice of power
Shatter me into shards that will in turn stab them as they sleep
Burn me like a witch, only to extinguish my flame moments later
Draining the waterways that served my land
Leaving earth a strained body, me ignored and damned.Recognise me as you dangle your feet over the cliff edge, speaker helplessly
Hung by your side, tears shining in the dappled fading light
Recognise me in both your anger and vulnerability
Scathing at the sycophants, leading the liars astray.Remember me when your eyes flicker at the injustice of night, so black he
Hit the trigger accidentally, so bleak she'd be wounded eventually
Remember me in your breaking voice and shaking hands, when you gather
Place the coffin down, in the woods I dedicate to you.Hear me in her burning passion and his unbreakable power, when we
Grow up and move away from this small town
Hear me in your impossible feverish dreams, when we
Meet in a haze of hope and for a
Moment, revolution is within reach.LD x ~ 11/12/20
