For me, there is No safe place to hide as long as the battle is not yet finished. To survive in the battle, you yourself needs to conquer everything. But how? How am I going to fight back when I don't even know how to fight on my own? I'm scared, but the moment I found myself loving him the way I wanted to be loved, everything changed. Kinneth. With his presence alone, I know I am safe. With him, I know I can fight and I can survive because he will protect me. Pero hindi lahat na nagpoprotekta ay nananatili. What happens when one person becomes the only voice standing against the majority? The protagonist walks into his favorite literature class expecting another engaging discussion. Instead, he is introduced to a novel he finds shallow and disappointing. His criticism quickly turns an ordinary classroom conversation into a conflict where not only literary taste, but the very right to hold an independent opinion is put on trial. "Majority" is a satirical short story about debate, freedom of thought, social pressure, and the price people pay when they choose to stand against the crowd.

Nobody said life was easy, but I never expected it to be so... Well, hard. It's inconsistent and it has ups and downs you either follow or get dragged over. But worst of all, it doesn't care about you. It doesn't care if you have plans or if you want things a specific way. It has plans of it's own. It will bring people in, take them out, pull you into things and then snap you away. You blink, look away for just a moment, and when you look back... You may not be the same you you started with. All of this and more is something I would need to learn.

In this new "perfect" society, everyone gets a barcode on their wrist. These barcodes get scanned every time you do something like going to a social event, eating dinner, participating in class, and when you get grades in school. The activity of these barcodes are monitored by the government and you get points. There are points for school, behavior, and social activities. If you get a certain number of points in any of these categories, which is rare, the government takes you away to what society believes is a better life. What happens when Manaolana, or Lana, is one of these few people? Find out what actually happens to these few people.

❝The girls here are bred for beauty, their talents are honed to remarkable, unmatched skill, and their minds are molded into the highest standards of modern intelligence.❞ ❝That is why I come visit you.❞ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lucette Deniaud has lived in the Home of Gwendoline Salomé since birth. She has always been told to be a good girl, to study hard, to keep her room clean, and to never speak unless spoken to, and unlike all the other strange, orphan girls like her, Lucette took this as a way of life. None of the girls have ever been outside the walls of the Home. Through the windows and past the gates, constant fog and endless rows of uniform evergreen trees hide the world they haven't even dreamed of. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 2014 by Sophia Gray; All Rights Reserved. | cover by veracity | book jacket by leichter
