They took her from her world. They'll regret making her their weapon. Reynard is a gremlin, a genetic mod designed for high-gravity labor. When she's conscripted by the brutal Unified Planets Fleet, her only goal is to survive, play dumb, and find a way home. But survival has a price. To avoid the meat-grinder of the penal battalions, she must reveal a fraction of her forbidden talent-an affinity for technology that marks her as a valuable asset instead of a disposable grunt. Her skills land her in an elite drone pilot program, under the command of a broken Paladin, Wasserman, a man wracked with pain and haunted by a necrotic curse. Now, Reynard is trapped between a war she doesn't believe in and a commanding officer whose very aura calls to a dangerous, biological bond she can't ignore. To save her homeworld from slavers, she must master powers that could get her executed, trust a man whose touch could destroy her, and survive a fleet that would rather use her up than set her free. She was drafted as cannon fodder. She'll become their greatest secret-or their most devastating mistake. A gritty sci-fi adventure perfect for fans of complex characters, magitech worlds, and slow-burn romantic subplots. Disclaimer: Unsolicited fan or cover art makes me break out in hives. War has never been a pleasant thing. Especially in the year 2054 when Quebec enables conscription; the compulsory enrollment into the military. Many people fear as they wait to hear exactly who will be obligated to enroll in the military. Quite a few of Olivia Mercier's friends are on the list of people having to serve in the military until the battle they're apart of ends. Three months later, another list of rolls out and Olivia isn't too shocked to see her name on the list. After all, she fits all the requirements. Except one. And it's one that will exclude her no matter what.

A Transmigration Novel of Seven Arcs. Nicholas Kim's future unfolded after his death. Despite thinking his rescue of the drowning child was just pure instinct, and his subsequent death merely an unfortunate consequence, the world regarded him as a hero. As such, he was entered into The System and given the opportunity to earn enough karmic points to re-enter his body at the point of death, thereby reviving himself and continuing his life. System: Author: "Aren't you supposed to give him some help?" System: Nicholas: "What kind of author forgets to give the system a voice?" Author: *runs away and hides* ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is an original work influenced by the many translated Chinese transmigration novels I have read. While I am putting this under the Romance genre (it's an LGBTQI friendly romance so if that's not your thing then save us all the trouble) it's there mostly because there's no other clear cut genre that transmigration novels like this one belong to! Why do we skip between sci-fi, fantasy, ancient settings etc? It would be so much easier for the author if we just stayed put. This story contains mature themes such as suicide and self-harm, mental illness, self-sacrifice, war, and racism and bigotry. I won't be putting disclaimers in front of each chapter with these themes but will include a basic run down of the themes in each Arc as they are written. If the themes and issues included in this story are troubling, or trigger an emotional response in the reader then please, reach out for help and talk to a counsellor. Arc 1- self-sacrifice, domestic violence/abusive relationship, Arc 2- suicide, mental illness, war Arc 3- Arc 4- Arc 5- Arc 6- Arc 7-

This is a story of redemption and turmoil, violence and ambition, love and loss, and of course, Australia. This is quite an epic piece of writing, and the only thing that drew me to it was my recent interest in traveling to Australia and checking out the place for a while. I was searching for any interesting reading about the country and stumbled across this. This appealed to my literary side as well, because the story sounded so interesting, and I thought that it would put me in the proper mindset to really start making decisions about my trip. I am still just as undecided, but I have gained a hell of a lot of appreciation for the Australian landscape, and quite a bit of love for Gordon Smith along the way. He crafts a long-winded, but beautifully crafted story of a family through half a dozen generations, in a way that few authors would date to undertake. Not only that, he balanced family dynamics and a rich narrative with some of the most impactful events in modern history. There was a wealth of research behind this book to make so much of it so believable, and for that alone, I would respect the author and give him five stars. However, what really pushed this book over the edge of great for me was his diligent character work - bringing these people to life for us, his readers, as we watch them grow as individuals and evolve as a family unit. Truly Impressive Stuff!

This is a story about Martha, and her husband. They both go to war: she is a nurse, and he is a soldier. Enjoy!! Just a note, these chapters are very short because this is a school assignment, and the story is short in general.

In late-apartheid South Africa, Pieter Fourie is a gifted young teacher from a poor family whose future seems set at last. Then conscription tears him out of that life and sends him into the machinery of the border war. Hardened by training and drawn into the legendary 32 Battalion, Pieter learns the brutal grammar of loyalty, endurance, and command in a world where competence can mean survival and obedience can cost a man his soul. But the war's deepest wound comes after the fighting, when the battalion is discarded and its men are sent to Pomfret, a poisoned settlement where betrayal settles into everyday life. When the Buffalo Fell is a historical novel about soldiering, class, brotherhood, memory, and the long human cost of being used by history and then left behind.
