It was safe to say that Dmitri hated St Petersburg- now Leningrad- with a burning passion. His whole life had been spent crammed inside the once-royal city amongst the lowest of the lows and he was ready to escape. All he wanted was a big- no, a comfortable home with a large garden, surrounded by hot food and a warm bath. It seemed almost impossible. Almost. When a rumour starts seeping through the cracks and back alleys of Petersburg, Dmitri and an ex-count team up with an unusual, amnesiac girl to snatch a wealthy reward and get out of Russia for good. Of course, absolutely nothing goes to plan. Anya couldn't remember a single thing about her past. All she could remember was the echoes of a lullaby, a firm hand in hers and a terrible fear of guns lodged in her mind. For a young girl in St. Petersburg in 1927, that wasn't a lot. With the strengthening grip of the Bolsheviks on Russia's freedom and fear around every corner, Anya is determinded to escape. All she needs to do is get to Paris... Dimitri's life had never been easy. From the first day he could walk he had been stealing bread off the streets, selling stolen watches and jewellery on the Nevsky Prospect, just to help him get by. He had raised himself and learnt to never trust anyone, especially now that his home was under the iron fist of Communism. But with a rumor in St. Petersburg floating around and a reward of 10 million rubles on the other side of Europe, Dimitri has a plan. All he needs to do is to get to Paris... A combination of the musical and movie adaptations of the rumors and mysteries that surrounded the Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov in the 20th century.

Anastasia Romanov, (more commonly known as Anya) and her husband Dmitry have finally found peace. They have a comfortable, care free life in Paris, and are proud to be raising two beautiful children. And most importantly, they are free. Yes, life is good. But not in Europe. No, not in Europe, because World War ll is raging, and before long, it's reached Paris. Suddenly life is filled with uncertainty and terror. Suddenly Paris is a lot more like Russia. And for Anya, this means giving up everything in hope that one day, the war will end.

Anya met Dmitri at the bridge, she caught him before he left. But an uncalled for disaster messes up all of the problems they had just solved. (Aka I reworked the final scene and once that's solved it's just a bunch of adorable Dimya fluff)
