Finn Matthews was never one to appreciate a pet fish. "A swimming buddy when you practice for competing!" His mother encouraged. "Saving another animal from the terrifying depths of the ocean," his dad said sadly. Yes, when Finn got a pet fish he expected to have a new swimming buddy and saving another animal, but what he didn't expect was it to morph into a mermaid. Obviously knowing that he couldn't keep the thing in the home of a marine biologist, he carries her to the ocean. But what he doesn't realize is that he's leading his new friend and maybe even love interest to something worse; an accidental oil spill in the area. Faced with pollution, Finn's new friend Nina is slowly dying, and he needs to save her before pollution's oily hands get to her first.

Then another and another, until over the course of one week, Avery Steele had received seven red balloons. Then came the letter. The six words that changed sixteen-year-old Avery's life forever: I can see you from here. That night is the night that Avery's face shows up on all the media, newspapers, and TV stations under the headline "Local Teenager Missing." Several miles away, Avery is locked in a real-life fishbowl: a high-security, entirely glass enclosed, circular two-level room, the bottom half of which is filled with water. There, she meets a boy who has been reported missing for two years, Hunter Mackinnon. He tells her the disturbing story behind their kidnappings, enraging Avery. Overwhelmed with anger and frustration, she comes up with a seemingly foolproof plan to escape. Of course, nothing ever goes as planned, and getting out of the "fishbowl" is much more complicated than either Hunter or Avery could have ever imagined...

POEM / STORY Little village boy finds it's easier to fish within a fishbowl than the lake. He sometimes steals live fish from local farmers and the market, and drops them within a bowl. Instant gratification is attained over and over again.

I got this idea from watching Harry Potter with that story about Slughorn and the fishbowl. It made me think about writing a story about a fishbowl in which something happened that reflected real life as well. In this story, a young girl named Rosie gets a fish named Ploy and his life reflects hers in a way. Hope you enjoy! This IS a FINSIHED story!!! I promise this is the whole thing!

When Mark accidentally turns his best friend's goldfish into a mermaid, neither teenager knows what to do. The creature isn't supposed to exist! The poor little goldfish doesn't know what to do either, and she doesn't trust the giant beings who walk around outside her glass home. The only being she trusts is Chaos--the lazy cat who often watches her as she swims. But life isn't easy for a tiny mermaid--especially a mermaid who's in love with a cat. And Mark could get into serious trouble if the professors at the Academy find out he's been using his powers in the outside world...
