'The second book following 'When The Day Met Night' follows Julia Vargas; a teenage girl and her older Brother; Kyle Vargas. After finding out they're dead best friend is alive and on top of that a werewolf named Jonathan and meeting Loup; Jonathan's maker; their life turns upside down. This book goes into months after Jonathan tells them to leave to New York and begins to explain her nature.' You would think after being hidden, threatened, and lied to it would be about time to find out the truth. The truth being about why in the world Julia can burn and make things explode and why the werewolves want her and her brother killed. Why people refer to her as the Old Blood and why her Uncle Donny suddenly has taken interest in their situation. Of course, these answers don't come easy. Yet, she does learnt hat Werewolves are the Guardians/Old Blood's enemy. They butchered her race. More than enough reason to hate them, right? This is what Julia struggles with. A hate that's pressured on to her by her family and her drunk brother. Yet, didn't Loup and Jonathan help her? Meanwhile Jonathan and Loup are held in Spain as prisoners of the old werewolves; their Chiefs in questioning. They fought, both Loup and Jonathan against Demetrio to protect Julia and her secret. Being tortured until they speak; both having odd dreams about Julia. Loup seems to know more about the Guardians then anyone; he might even know Julia's family more than anyone; back when they were called Mubarak family. While Jonathan is more than determined to reach back to Julia, even though he knows that if he does see Julia; she'll die. Broken between his love for Julia and the fear of her dying before him. While Julia is broken between a new found hate of werewolves and fond memories of Loup and Jonathan. A tension grows as the werewolves find out about the truth whether the Guardians still live. Beyond love and the struggle to be normal and survive a war is starting to grow.
