After meeting at the Yellow Turban Rebellion, Liu Bei and Cao Cao felt an instant attraction to each other; however, they chose to ignore it and go their separate ways. The two have different goals for the chaos: Cao Cao wants to unite China through logic and reason, but Liu Bei wants to unite it through emotion and a large lack of reason. Eventually, the two meet once again and their ideals clash on the battlefield, causing each other a massive headache when they really just want to be together. Over the years they continue to have secret meetings, but the years are unkind and Cao Cao begins to have dreadful headaches and he gets angry easily. Xiahou Dun notices this change in his Lord's temperament and worries about him, but he is only able to provide slight relief through the use of medicine. As Cao Cao's condition gets worse, will Liu Bei fight for a new cause entirely? Or will he allow their love to wither like a dying rose?
