The Hunger Games had been a tradition for 100 years. And that year wasn't any different. Each district gave up two teenagers for the Games, one bender and one nonbender. They would fight to the death to see which district was the best that year. However, this year, something was different. The people in the Games were different this year. And they were ready to storm the Capitol at nightfall. --- Katara hated her life. Everything about it sucked, but there was nothing she could do to make it better. And then it got even worse when she was chosen to be in the Hunger Games. She was the bender from District 4, and the nonbender that got chosen was - get this - her brother, Sokka. Their lives couldn't get any better, right? When they made it to the Capitol, they realized how unskilled they were. Most of the other people had an unfair advantage to the Games - they had been training for it their whole lives. Katara was terrified of the Games. However, there was a certain anger growing in her. She wouldn't die in the Games. No, she would live just to spite everyone who doubted her. That spite spurred her through the Games. It gave her the drive to take care of the kid from District 10 who was also doubted. It gave her the drive to go along with the uprising, to storm the Capitol at nightfall. Katara just didn't think the sun would rise in the morning.
