Joy lives in a small country town and is 16 years old. It is 1883. There are 5 siblings in her family, two older brothers, one of whom is a twin, and three younger sisters. Mica, a family friend, is the love of her life and they only date each other thanks to their mother's. On the night that Joy is waiting for Mica and his family to come and have their Sunday lunch together she realizes that he and his family are late. Joy has her father and brother go and find out why they're late. They find out that he died while they're in church. When she finds out she passes out, but when she comes to she heads to his house to see for herself, but on her way there she's murdered in the park in their town. Her soul is stuck in the park. She tries to tell people who killed her but she's not able to. She is able to scream and later make herself visible. But she decides to kill those that don't come to her aid when she screams like the person did when she was being murdered. She's determined to get the one that murdered her and Rose the one that watched and laughed when she was being killed. At one point she finds out that she has been dead for 100 years thanks to the kids that come to the park and start talking about her tale. They soon mention that they're descendants of her and Rose. Joy lays down and closes her eyes. When she opens them she's back home in her bed and finds out that she's been in a coma for a month. And then finds out that Mica came to his own funeral so he wasn't dead at all. Joy and Mica both realize that they both envisioned her death and who killed her and why so they set out to find out if it's true and how they can save their families and make those pay that are trying to cause them harm.
