Ocean Harrison is 15 years old, her life at school isn't at all great. Everyone makes fun of her and some of them even physically bully her. Ocean's home life isn't so great either. Ocean is an only child but her mom ran out on her and her dad when she was 4. Ocean's dad raises her, but he hits her too.

One morning before she went to school she got into a fight with her dad. But when she got to school and into her homeroom, there was a new kid sitting beside her. She talks to him and they become friends. It turns out his life is similar to hers, but she's too afraid to tell him about her rough life.

Ocean is best friends with the new kids. he helps her through extremely tough times throughout the book. She goes through ups and downs. and he is always there for her. No matter what he never leaves her side.
