Jungkook was sitting on the couch when Jimin walked in, already typing a message, a small smile on his face. He didn't even look at Jungkook as he flopped into the armchair opposite him.

Something inside Jungkook ached. He couldn't do it anymore. He couldn't stay silent. He wanted Jimin to know.

"Jimin," he said, his voice tight.

Jimin’s eyes flicked up from his phone, annoyed at the interruption. "Yeah?"

"Can you… can you put your phone down for a second?"

Jimin dropped the phone into his lap, but his thumb was still hovering over the screen, ready to pick it back up. "What, Kookie? I'm kind of in the middle of something."

"I just want to share something with you..."

And the words tumbled out, a messy, desperate torrent of everything he’d been holding back.

"It just feels like you don't care about me anymore. You hardly talk to me. And when you do, you're not fully present. When I share something, you hear it, you no longer listen, and you just hum your way through it or speak about something entirely different..."

"To distract you from it," Jimin interrupted.

“I know,” Jungkook whispered. “You’ve said that. But… sometimes I don’t want distraction.”

(continued...)

It felt like Jimin had forgotten him. Like he was an old toy, put away on a shelf while Jimin played with new, shinier ones. And the worst part was, Jungkook couldn't stop clinging. He was the one who still cared. He was the one who made Jimin coffee in the morning, who picked up his favorite snacks at the store, who watched him from across the room with a desperate, hoping ache.

And he was struggling. The thoughts were getting louder, the ones that whispered he wasn't good enough, that he was boring, that Jimin had finally gotten tired of him. Every time Jimin looked through him, every distracted hum, every ignored text, was a confirmation. You see? You're not worth it anymore.

The spiral was vicious. The insecurity fed on the neglect, and the neglect made the insecurity grow until it felt like it was swallowing him whole.

Tonight, it was too much. The laughter from the other room echoed in his ears. He felt a familiar, frantic energy building under his skin, a desperate need to feel something other than this hollow, gnawing pain. He needed to cut through it, to find a moment of sharp, clean clarity to silence the noise in his head.

His hands were trembling as he stood up and walked into his bathroom, closing and locking the door behind him. He didn't turn on the light. The soft glow from the bedroom was enough. He knelt down, his fingers fumbling with the loose tile at the back of the vanity. His fingers closed around the cool, familiar metal of the small razor blade he kept hidden there. It was his old, terrible secret, a habit he thought he’d buried years ago, back when he was a teenager and felt lost and alone.

The silence in their apartment wasn't a comfortable one. It used to be filled with Jimin's soft humming, the sound of him padding around looking for Jungkook to curl up next to, the easy chatter about their day. Now, it was just… empty. Heavy.

Jungkook sat on the edge of his bed, staring at the closed door that connected his room to Jimin’s. He could hear the faint, muffled sound of Jimin’s voice on the other side, laughing. He wasn't on the phone with his family, or with a manager. He was on a group call, his voice bright and animated in a way Jungkook hadn't heard directed at him in months.

He missed it. God, he missed it so much it was a physical ache in his chest.

He missed the way Jimin used to care. He missed how Jimin would text him between schedules, asking if he’d eaten. He missed how Jimin would worry about him catching a cold, tugging the collar of his jacket up higher. He missed the way Jimin used to love him, with a fierce, clingy devotion that made Jungkook feel like the center of the universe. He used to complain about it, playfully pushing Jimin off when he’d hang on him like a koala, but now he’d give anything to feel that weight again.

Because now… now Jimin was a ghost in his own home. He’d come in, drop his bags, and his phone would be in his hand, his thumbs flying across the screen. He had new friends, a whole circle Jungkook wasn't a part of. If Jungkook tried to talk to him, to tell him about his day, about the knot of anxiety tightening in his stomach, Jimin would just hum. A low, noncommittal sound that wasn't listening, just acknowledging noise. There were no hugs, no hand-holding, no soft words of comfort. Sometimes, if Jungkook was talking for too long, Jimin would just get up and walk into another room, the conversation left hanging in the air, unheard and unimportant.

@ykikimagination hello. I already have a vmin and vminkook book, I believe. As of right now, I haven't really planned to write a new one. But I might pursue the vminkook book I earlier ditched. It's called Peek-a-boo. ♥️

And while I’m posting this, I just want to ask for something small from the heart.

With everything happening around the world—the floods, the fire in Hong Kong, the earthquakes, and so many other disasters—please take a moment to send a prayer or a kind thought to everyone affected.

Take care of yourselves. Stay safe. ♥️✨

Life’s a climb.

On day one, you might feel unstoppable. Determined. Cover up good ground.

On day two, you might slip.

On day three, you might regain the ground you lost.

On day four, you might stumble again, maybe scrape a knee.

On day five, you might sit there with your head down, frustrated that you didn’t get any farther.

On day six, you might rise with fresh strength and gain new ground.

On day seven, the exhaustion might hit, and one single step is all you manage.

On days eight to ten, you might be too worn out or unwell to move at all.

On day eleven… the cycle may repeat.

But through it all, you’re still moving.
Through it all, your resilience is growing.

          Every tear waters a seed.
Every drop of sweat builds strength.
Every breath you fight for makes your lungs tougher.

          Nothing is wasted.
          Your effort counts.
Your growth isn’t just in the steps forward, but in the steps back too.

So if today feels like a fall,
remember... it’s still part of your rise.
          Lean into it.
          You’re growing. ♥️✨
