Here's a short sneak peek for something I've been (trying) cooking up. Also, if you have anything to say about my writing style, PLEASE TELL ME, I JUST WANT TO GET BETTER--
Old hotel in the Midwest, October 19th 2018...
"Mom, wait!" The scared girl attempted to keep up with her mom.
Alyssa hurried towards the stairs, "Grace! Come on, keep moving." While they rushed down the staircase, she repeatedly told Grace to keep moving and to hurry up. Meanwhile, Grace called her friend ins response to her mother's command.
Lucky for them, Asher picked up on the first attempt. "Grace? Hey, what's up?" he answered energetically. Well, he probably wasn't, he just seemed extremely joyful at all times. The sound of his soothing voice comforted her through the times her teenage self wouldn't want her parent to get involved in.
"Hey, Ash? You okay?" Grace's paranoia got to her.
He hesitated, "Um, yeah? Wait, wait, wait, are you okay? You sound on edge." Of course Asher would notice it. Still, he knew when he could make fun of her. And also when it was in fact serious.
"I'm fine, thanks," she replied. The teen held a hand over the speaker as she turned to Alyssa. "Mom, he--"
"Tell him to come pick us up, or send someone, just tell him it has to be as fast as possible."
Asher asked from the speaker under Grace's hand, "Gracie? Hello?"
"Um, M-Mom asks if you could come pick us up?"
"Your mom? Why?" The boy was reasonably confused, just as Grace.
"I-I dunno, the power went out and she said 'they're coming' and now she's got a gun--"
"Hold up, she's got what? Uh, well, I'm on my way."
What're y'all thinking this is based on?
