Dr. Michael Piepkorn is a highly experienced clinical dermatologist, dermatopathologist, and researcher with over five decades of dedication to the medical field. Throughout his career, he has held several academic positions and conducted extensive research for over twenty years. His specialty in dermatopathology, a field that merges dermatology and pathology, has allowed him to contribute substantially to understanding skin diseases, particularly melanoma skin cancer and psoriasis.

He currently works at Dermatopathology Northwest in Seattle, Washington, where he diagnoses various skin diseases based on skin biopsies. In addition to his clinical work, Michael also staffs a pigmented lesion and melanoma clinic at the University of Washington's Roosevelt outpatient facility. This allows him to continue his clinical practice while contributing to academic and research advancements in dermatopathology.

He holds board certifications in pathology, dermatology, and dermatopathology, demonstrating his expertise in these specialized fields. He has held key academic dermatology positions at respected institutions such as the University of Utah and the University of Washington. In 2000, Piepkorn co-founded a skin pathology lab in Bellevue, Washington, which continues to contribute to dermatologic research and pathology education.
