No-one's POV
The sun soon made its descent across the sky, turning from blue to reds and oranges till the sky was painted an inky black with small white lights puncturing the ink stained fabric above. Most people were asleep, resting for their day tomorrow. Some were still working, putting more energy into their jobs hoping for a promotion or covering for someone else. However, three people were still wide awake, unable to rest their eyes for a moment, not having moved from their positions since they had arrived back home.
Shinso's POV
It's been hours and Midoriya still hasn't woken up. While it was normal for me and Aiza- Dad to still be up due to having insomnia, I could see how tired Papa was. He normally goes to bed at around eight in order to have enough energy for the day, but today was different. It was already past midnight and all of us had stayed where we were, barely moving, forgetting about eating or homework. All we could think about was the unconscious greenette in our spare room. Would he even wake up tonight? Will he wake up tomorrow? Will he wake up?
I know that last one was a tad dramatic, but I couldn't really think logically at the moment.
Just as I could feel myself drifting off to sleep where I sat, an ear-piercing scream filled the house. All three of us jumped to our feet and barreled up the stairs, alert to any threat that may be in the spare room. Papa was in the front so he opened the door wide for us to see what was happening.
Good news: no-one was breaking into our house.
Bad news: Midoriya was thrashing about in bed, screaming from the top of his lungs and reopening all of his wounds.
Papa rushed forwards and shook the boy awake. It took a while, but Midoriya eventually woke up, albeit in tears and yelling but awake nonetheless. Even in the dark I could see his shaking frame as he held onto Papa's shirt like it was his life-line. Papa simply wrapped his arms around the boy, stroked his hair and whispered words of reassurance. Me and Dad slowly backed out of the room, closing the door gently as to not disturb the two.
At least he was awake.
Dad turned to me and said, "It's best if you go to sleep. There's still school tomorrow. I'll stay here with the problem child instead. He's not fit to go to school anyway."
I simply nodded my head and made my way to my room.
The house was now strangely silent but the tension had lessened. I moved to my bed and fell asleep before my head hit the pillow.Hizashi's POV
Midoriya was still shaking in my arms, tears streaming down his cheeks and seemed never ending. Shota had walked out with Hitoshi, most likely to tell him to try and sleep which he was desperately in need of, the poor boy.
I stroked Midoriya's hair and rubbed his back soothingly while whispering reassuring words, trying to help him calm down.
After a few minutes, his crying was reduced to sniffling. I slowly, softly, rocked him side, hoping to calm him down further. Soon, the sniffling came to a stop as well. I gently pushed him away from me to see that he had fallen back asleep. I chuckled and laid him back onto the bed, pulling the blanket back over him.
I slowly made my way out of the room, but I didn't make it far before I felt something stop me. Looking down, there was a hand holding onto my shirt.
"Don't go." the small boy whispered in his sleep. "Please don't go. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'll be better I promise."
My heart broke slightly after hearing this. What has he been through before coming to UA?
That was a question for another day though. Problem at hand: getting him to sleep peacefully.
I crouched down next to the bed, gently pulling my shirt out from his clenched fist. Once that was free, my hand was in its grasp. His knuckles turned white from how hard he was golding my hand. I held it back reassuringly and said, "It's going to be ok little listener. You're not on your own. We will help you with whatever it is that is bothering you."
He seemed to calm down a little, but was still tense. I started humming a song that had always helped me when I had trouble sleeping what I was younger. It also helped Shota and Hitoshi when their insomnia got really bad. My quirk also helped put them to sleep quicker, something like a siren's song, putting them in a trance to help them sleep. The only drawback is that it drains my energy as well so I didn't do it all too much.
As soon as the song came to an end, Midoriya's hand had relaxed and I was able to slip away and out of the room without making a sound. I could quiet when I needed to be, I thought with a smug smile.
Opening the door to my and Shota's room, I found my husband sitting up on the bed, the bedside lamp still on. I walked over and kissed his temple before falling onto the bed.
"How's he?" Shota said, turning off the lamp.
"He's asleep, but it's clear that something happened before. Poor boy was afraid to be left alone. Maybe it's something to do with his parents?" I said, more questioned.
Shota just nodded. "No one has been able to contact his parents or know where he lives. I would ask Bakugo, but he doesn't seem to be close enough to the problem child anymore to know. I'll ask some of the detectives down at the police station that I used to work with tomorrow to see if they can track them down."
It was my turn to nod. I gave a big yawn, my eyes slowly closing.
"Did you use the siren's spell on him?" he asked me.
I rolled my eyes at the name he gave the trick that helped him sleep. "Yes, I did. Although he fell asleep he was still somewhat concious and wouldn't let go of me. I just wanted to calm him down a bit." I justified.
"I don't blame you. Just don't use it again any time soon or your not going to pass out for two days. Again." He said the last part with a smirk.
I punched his arm, "Whose fault was it that I had to use it too many times that day?" I let out another yawn.
"Go to sleep. I'll stay with the boy tomorrow so don't worry too much." Shota said, leaving a kiss on my temple before lacing his arms around me, his warmth washing over me.
I let out a sleepy nod before falling into a deep sleep.Hi again. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Just wanted to say that I'm going to try and publish one-two chapters a week. Considering that it's the holidays I may publish a few more before school starts up again.
