Same night
Shoto's POV

I was laying down in my bed, staring at my ceiling as if I could find the answers I needed written between the cracks in the paint.
Sadly, I couldn't. How much easier would it have been if I could?
Why was Bakugo beating up Midoriya?
Was he always like this?
Did it always reach such an extent?
Who were those two people with Bakugo?
Why was Mr. Aizawa there to take Midoriya?
Did he know what was happening?
What didn't I know?
All these questions, along with many others, swirled around my mind relentlessly, denying me the chance to get some rest before the next day. I look over to my window and see the sky turning a glowing grey, signaling that the sun would soon rise above the trees. Just perfect. Another sleepless night.
With a tired sigh, I rolled out of bed and went through my morning routine despite it still being hours too early.
Once dressed, I snuck down the stairs, avoiding the steps and floorboards that would make the most noise. If I was heard by my old man, he'd most likely beat me up and then make me do some 'training'. Hell. He may force me to try and sneak around without making a noise just so that I could perfect that as well.
Luckily, I managed to make it to the front door without waking anybody up. I slipped on my shoes and left the house. I decided to take a very long walk before walking to school. There was a clearing in the woods that was located near my house that had the best view of the sun rise. I looked up at the sky and saw the sun had almost risen. I managed to make it to the clearing just in time to see the sun poking out from the horizon and greeted the sky with warm beams of light that seemed to give energy and warmth to all the surrounding nature. The birds were singing songs to one another as if trying to wake themselves up, the trees swayed as if waving at the sun, the flowers opening up ever so slightly to warm themselves up using the sun's overflowing energy. I felt the sunbeams hit my face, also warming me up as I sat and stared at the light spilling over the slowly waking world, ready to face yet another day.
I took a deep breath and got up from where I sat and took the longer route to school today, needing to mentally prepare myself for entering school. Although it was one of the best schools, it was pretty intense which would stress anyone out and the workload was such a drastic change for most in comparison to their middle schools. It wasn't too hard for me, but at the same time I didn't have anywhere to go or anything to do other than work and studying. It was quite a solitary life, but I didn't mind too much. It was just the way in which I was raised and the way I worked best.
I stepped through the gates and made my way to my classroom and saw that one of my classmates was already there.
Tenya Iida was busy organising his books and stationary on his desk but looked up when he heard me approaching.
"Good morning, Todoroki. I hope you had a pleasant sleep."
I didn't respond but gave a small nod before making my way to my desk. I heard some grumbling coming from Iida but I chose to ignore it. I was never really good at socialising so I tend to struggle every now and again, especially when everyone was so energetic, so much so that I always walked away with a headache. It didn't bother me though. The shocking difference between home and school was something that had take me by surprise during the first week, but it was also quite refreshing. Midoriya was actually the one who approached me first and opened a discussion with me. Sure it started as him asking me about my quirk, but it was a conversation none the less. We then went to talk about other random topics and before I knew it, I was sitting with him, Iida and Uraraka at lunch. I wasn't against it, but something didn't feel quite right between three other students, more so that Iida and Uraraka were not all too interested in what Midoriya was saying at all. It through me off for a moment before I went back to eating.
Thinking back, it was a strange interaction that a I never really thought to question.
It seemed as though I had zoned out while thinking back to last week because I felt a tap on my shoulder and saw that it was Shinso. He looked even worse than yesterday.
"Oh hi." I said in a monotone voice. "Is there something wrong?" I found myself scanning the room, trying to find a specific green haired boy.
"He's not coming in today." Shinso said, seeming to know who I was looking for.
I turned my head back to face him and tilted my head to the side, showing my confusion.
Shinso sighed before dropping into his seat. "He's staying at my place for reasons I still don't quite know, but anyway. He woke up in the middle of the night screaming so Da-Aizawa thought it'd be best for him to stay at home for the day." Shinso tried to cover up his mistake with a cough, but I still heard it. I would've smiled had I not just processed what happened with Midoriya.
"Is he ok?" I could hear the worry in my own voice though I didn't really understand why I was so worried for the greenette.
Shinso just shrugged, "It seemed to just be a bad dream, but something must have caused it."
And with that, the purple haired insomniac turned around to face the substitute teacher that explained that Mr. Aizawa was taking a sick day. I blocked that out and went over Shinso's words.
What's happening to you Midoriya?

*sigh* another chapter done. It is currently 3.30 in the morning and I am tired but idk if I'll be able to fall asleep anytime soon. Fun times.
Anyway, hope you liked this chapter. Don't be like me and go get some rest.
