Tine was always quick on picking up things, every assignment with an A+ reflected that fact well enough for him. He had a high IQ stumping his friends when they would study all week for a test and Tine would just skim up during the weekend and still bring higher grades than them. They cursed him for that. Pay attention during the lectures, he would suggest them, And Phuak would scoff and tell him that not everyone had a sharp photographic memory like him.
Tine did not think he had a photographic memory, he just paid attention whole-heartedly because Law interested him. Sure, The schedule was tight and some nights he would be so swamped with projects and case studies to review that he would often forget dinner but the thrill to crack a case study before reading the final verdict on it always kept him going.
Tine's dad was a Defense Lawyer and had specialized in criminology, so, growing up he had plenty of examples of how tough the Law business was if you get down to the core stuff. His dad's office swarmed with people who weren't included in any conventional way of money-making and with too much of a menacing aura to be measly thugs, growing up, getting in contact with these type of people scared him and he had trembled and asked his father with eyes filled with unshed tears if he was involved with those scary men?
Mr. Teepakorn had sat him down and hugged him trying to appease the 12-year-old young boy that yes he was indeed involved with the men who scared his younger child but he wasn't doing something bad, after all, how do you explain to your child that the world is not black and white when he wouldn't understand the greys people go through.
At 16, Tine had decided that he would join the prosecution.
Grades became important for him and his studies rented the major part of his consciousness. It's funny how the things you are passionate about won't leave your head. You could call Tine a Booksmart but he wasn't dumb with real-life situations either, you could never deceive Tine Teepakorn's sharp mind, but on the counterpart, he had spent so much time with his books, never even trying to make friends other than the three idiots who were there with him since grade 2 that had resulted in his low EQ. he had a little difficulty understanding new people. When Sarai left, he lost a good friend and he realized he was not very good at letting people go. So, he stopped letting temporary people in, This rule sure became a little problematic with his dating life, the girls he dated being too shallow to climb up the wall. he guarded his heart because he knew the people worth letting in would barge in no matter what. Like his dumb friends, or Sarai.
Or Sarawat. And weirdly his two dumb friends.
It had been 3 days since Tine had met the campus heartthrob, he had been pretty busy with the opening act of scrubb' , and Tine could not believe that they were really going to open for Scrubb'. That's a huge thing.
Sarawat had very dramatically asked Tine to not flirt with Pear while he is gone but Tine was pretty sure that he was kidding, why else would he ask Tine to stop? It was a petty joke to keep Tine from blowing their plan, because if that wasn't it then the other implication was that Wat was jealous. That's just absurd.
He had seen pear, several times in passing but could not talk to her. Turning away before she spots him, why in the world was he taking Sarawat's warning so seriously? But every time he wants to just forget about it and approach Pear the guitarist's stern face swims in his consciousness and he backs out. This was getting out of hand, someway in the middle of this chaos Sarawat had gotten under his skin.
It was the fourth day of not meeting Sarawat when Tine was getting out of the club when Pear asked him to accompany her buy a guitar. Tine saw no fault in helping a fellow beginner and if he was anxiously looking over his shoulder and praying for fierce, dark eyes to not find him he wouldn't admit it to anyone. He talked to her for a while but his heart wasn't into it. And then his nightmare almost became a reality when he spotted Sarawat across from where they were sitting. He had escaped the hell that day and once again wondered why angering the aloof guitarist did not sit well with him?
