Pear was a sweet girl. Even when I hadn't really had the time to talk to her all that much but whenever I did she made me feel warm, like the beach breeze which calms you down by its gentleness and serenity.

In a way, she reminds me of my first girlfriend, Sarai, true to her name Sarai was a princess, I had met her in sophomore year in high school when she had transferred to our school and from the moment she entered the room and clumsily introduced herself I was interested, luckily she chose to sit beside me and I turned to give her a welcoming smile.

she stared at me and had whispered "you look like a rabbit"

I was very used to people telling me that, so I obviously took it as a compliment. My sixteen-year self was very satisfied that a girl as pretty as her had found me cute.

and then she whispered again "thank god, for those blemishes on your skin otherwise I would really have to report you to the animal department."

She had snickered at her own joke but I was confused, first of all, I did not know what a blemish was, secondly, she had insulted me but I did not feel angered I was rather amused by her awkward attempt to make a joke.

"It was a joke, a bad one, I agree but you could at least look annoyed the way the rest of the people look when I say something awkward" she mumbled staring at the desk, her cheeks were tinted pink and she was awkwardly rubbing her one arm with her other hand.

I laughed softly and she stared at me.

"nobody has ever laughed at my joke before," she told me her eyes shining with delight.

"well, I was laughing at you, not your joke" I teased

the delight in her eyes dimmed a bit but did not disappear, she narrowed her eyes at me and stuck her tongue out that earned her another soft laugh from me.

"I am Sarai, What's your name?" she asked curiously

I was about to answer but our English lit. teacher interrupted us.

"Mr. Tine Teepakorn as much as I am happy to see you make acquaintances with our new student, but you are disturbing my class so maybe it could wait until the class is over?"

I rolled my eyes and turned to her " well, that's my name"

she nodded and then concentrated on the lecture, but before I could completely indulge in the lecture I whispered to her softly

" and, I don't know what a blemish means"

"don't worry you will know soon" she replied.

and from that day we quickly became tight. And boy, did she educate me about a skincare routine, she told me about blemishes, about whiteheads, blackheads, eye bags, acne breakouts, How should we prevent them, how I should take vitamin C pills so that my skin will not be irritable and dry. And strangely It never sounded unnecessary or girlish to me, it sounded as important as keeping my body fit.

but maybe that was just because Sarai explained it so passionately, Following a skincare routine, it never made me feel emasculated like most boys my age would feel.

ohm and pheuk sure teased me about it, but it was not long till they joined us and took it as seriously, fong on the other hand never had to try, his skin was naturally clear.

He was a lucky bastard, even Sarai was annoyed at times.

months into knowing her I had asked her to be my girlfriend and she had agreed, giving me a pretty smile.

but when Junior year started she had to move again because of her father's job. we had spent an evening together in the park that we often visited and had shared our last cries, laughter, and smiles together.
