The Spellbook

Chapter Six

I'm doing a pov switch in the chapter.

Ashley's pov:

"Chris I have a bad feeling about this," I say to Chris as we are walking back to the castle.

"I know but what else are we going to do?"

"Don't you think this is a bit drastic?"

"Hey, desperate times call for desperate measures".

"But if Bella were to find out about this, we would lose her trust forever".

"The possibility of Bella finding out is like 0.1% or is it 0.3%? I think I forgot to carry the 4, nevermind".

"Ok, remind me of the plan again?"

"First we find Bella. Then we apologize for thinking she's gone mad and give her the bag of sweets. This is where we just hope that she forgives us. If she does we go in for a nice group hug where you will reach over and grab the spellbook out of Bella's bag. And lastly, we make up an excuse to leave so she doesn't expect we took the book when she realizes it's gone. Do you understand now?"

"Yeah, I think so. Well we brought another bag of sweets for Julia so we can just say we are going to give them to her".

"Yes, why didn't I think of that".

For the rest of the walk to the castle, Chris and I continue to talk about our plan to steal the spellbook from Bella.

"Where do you think she is?" Chris asks once we are inside the castle. 

"Probably Gryffindor Tower".  

We head up the long marble staircase and stop in front of the portrait of the fat lady. 

"Password?" The fat lady asks. 

"Uh sorry, we don't know the password. Could we talk to Bella for a second?" I respond.

 "Who is asking?"

"Ashley and Chris, we're Bella friends"

"Alright I've seen you two before, you may proceed," the fat lady says. 

"Thank you"

Chris and I walk into the common room and spot Bella sitting by the fireplace.

"Bella?" I say quietly, "We need to talk to you."

I, followed by Chris, walk into the room. 

"We're sorry about what we said in the hall. You've been spending a lot of time studying this book." I started.

"We can't see a thing it says, but if you believe there is something in there, then we believe there is too." Chris finished.

"Thanks guys. You really are the best people I could have for friends." Bella says to us and hugs us tightly. I take this opportunity to grab the book from her bag. 

"We brought you some sweets since you didn't go to Hogsmead. I hope you enjoy them!" Chris mentioned and handed Bella the bag. She quickly said thank you and popped one into her mouth.

"We have to get going. Sorry, we have to leave so soon but we have one last stop before heading back to Ravenclaw common room." I hold out an identical bag to the one Chris gave Bella. "We'll see you later, Bella." and with that, we both got up and left.

"Oh my godric, that was scary," I exclaim once we are outside of the dorms. 

"Did you get it?" Chris asks.

"Yeah," I respond motioning to the book in my bag. 

"Nice"

"Here you take the book and head up to the common room and I'll go deliver the sweets to Julia and see if I can find anything about cursed books in the library"

"Sounds like a plan"

I wave goodbye to Chris and head off to the Hufflepuff common room. I give the sweets to Julia and head off to my next stop, the library. Once I am there I search for a little while and find a couple of books about cursed objects. I check them out and head back to the common room. 

"Anything?" I ask Chris as I sit down beside him. 

"Nope, still a blank book"

"Ok, let's look through the books I got"

 We looked through them and found a couple of spells that reveal hidden messages. 

Chris cleaned his throat, "Reveleo". 

Nothing happened. 

I go next, "Reveal your secrets to me". 

Still nothing. 

"Alright then let's keep looking" I declare. 

We try for hours but we still can't see anything in this stupid book. 

"This is pointless, I'm going to bed," Chris exclaims. 

"Might I remind you who's idea this was"

"I know I know, you don't have to rub it in my face. Obviously, there's nothing written in the book. That it that's the end of the story"

And with that Chris turns around and walks towards the boy's dormitories. I didn't want to give up but like Chris said it's the end of the story. Now we just have to figure out how to give the book back to Bella without her knowing we took it. I decided that I had enough with the book and I put it away in my bag. I flung my bag over my shoulder and went to bed. 

I'm really really sorry I took so long to update. I didn't have the motivation to write and I was busy with school. I do want to finish this story soon and I think there's only going to be a couple of chapters left. Happy reading everyone! Word count 884.
