Chris's pov:

"Nothing nothing NOTHING," Ashley shouts making me jump from the place I was sitting.

"Are you ok?" I ask.

"This stupid book," She says slamming the book onto the coffee table in front of her. "Sorry that was a bit harsh"

Ashley picks the book up and continues to look through it.

"Shouldn't you be working on homework?"

"Yes but I have to figure out why we can't see the writing in this book but Bella can"

"I thought we agreed that we were down fussing about the spellbook"

"I know but I can't just leave it"

"Maybe some problems don't have a solution. Come on it's almost dinner time let's go down to the hall"

"Your right, I need a brain break"

Ashley put's the spellbook into her bag and flings it over her shoulder. We decided to keep the spellbook with us at all times because it seems like something really important that we don't want to lose. Together we walk down to the Great Hall.

Bella's pov:

I go to dinner with the rest of the school after lessons. I sit down and pour myself a glass of water. I look over at the Ravenclaw table and I'm surprised to see that Ashley and Chris aren't there. They probably got caught up in a good book and don't want to put it down. Numerous times I've had to drag them down to eat.

Nevertheless, I put a chicken breast and some mashed potatoes onto my plate. As soon as I start eating I see Ashley and Chris walk into the hall. I wave at them and they wave back taking their seats. That's when I spot something blue and gold sticking out of Ashley's bag. It was my spellbook. I couldn't believe it, my best friends stole my spellbook. After they told me they believed me. I immediately drop my fork and sprint to the Ravenclaw table.

"Hey, Bella what are you doing-" Ashley begins to explain but I cut her off.

"That a peculiar thing to have Ashley," I say while pulling the spellbook out of her bag.

"Bella we can explain," Chris exclaims looking nervous.

"Oh, I'm sure you can," I say sarcastically. "How is it that you guys have my spellbook that went missing a couple of days ago? Coincidentally right after you said you believed me".

Ashley and Chris exchange nervous glances before answering.

"We stole it"

"Wow," I yell.

"But we only did it because we wanted to know more about it. We're worried about you spending all your time studying this book. We just wanted to see if there was a way for Chris and I to understand," Ashley says.

"Oh so we're back to square one are we, YOU STILL THINK I'VE GONE MAD!"

"Calm down Bella," Chris says.

"I'm not going to calm down. You know friends are supposed to have each other's backs no matter what. It is not ok that you took this from me," I say angrily.

"But we just wanted to-"

"NO BUTS THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE," I slam my hands down on the table. Many heads turn towards our direction. I don't care, let them stare. "If you were my friends you would understand"

I turn on my heal, spellbook in hand, and run up to Gryffindor Tower.

"Password?" The Fat Lady.

"TAPEWORM"

"Someone's not in a good mood," The Fat Lady replies.

"JUST LET ME IN"

Tears start pouring out of my eyes as the portrait swings open. I run up the stairs and plop down on my bed. I tuck my knees up to my chest and begin to sob.

I know this is really short but I intended it to be that way. This was just supposed to be a filler chapter and we are going to get to the good stuff very very soon. Happy Reading! Word count 646.
