The Spellbook

Chapter Nine

A couple of months have passed since I yelled at my friends and I haven't talked to them since. It's weird seeing them at breakfast and in the hallways but not talking to them. Don't get me wrong, I'm still furious that they stole my book but I miss them. Lily and Charlotte have tried to include me in their little group but it's just not the same. They don't get me like Ashley and Chris do. You might be asking yourself, Bella, why are you doing this to yourself? Why don't you just forgive them? I'm too bloody proud to do that. 

Tomorrow is the start of Christmas break so I will be going home. Normally I hate leaving my friends and Hogwarts but this year I'm glad to be going home. I miss my family, my mum most of all. I know she will have some advice for me. Everyone is down in the common room having a party to celebrate the holiday, but I couldn't join in. It's becoming a bit of a habit for me. Everyone else having the times of their lives while I'm alone wallowing in self-pity. 

I had started packing my things but now my trunk lay discarded on my bed. I had picked up the spellbook and was going through it for the millionth time. All of a sudden I heard a tapping noise on the window beside me. 

"George," I exclaim throwing the window open. My owl swopped in a placed itself beside me. "It's nice to see a friendly face," I say while petting his back. 

I continue to look through the spellbook until my eyelids begin to drop. I was just able to make out the faint voices I recognized as Lily and Charlotte before I drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

The next morning, I woke up and finished packing my trunk and headed down to the front entrance. I boarded one of the carriages with Lily and Charlotte that would take us to Hogsmeade station. Once we got there Lily and Charlotte went to go talk to someone and asked me to find us a compartment. I grabbed my bookbag and George and got onto the train. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and bumped into someone. 

"Oh my godric I'm so sorry I didn't see you there- oh it's you," the person says. 

I looked up and came face to face with Ashley and Chris. Great, just great. 

"Uh hi guys," I say awkwardly. 

I don't get a response, just glares. I stand there awkwardly not saying anything until thankfully someone pulls me away. 

"Come on Bella, we are going to sit with my brother." It was Lily.

I take one last look at my ex-friends and follow Lily. We come to a compartment near the front of the train and Lily opens the door. Inside is her brother Albus, another boy with blond hair, and Charlotte. I sit next to Charlotte by the window. 

"Hi there I don't think we've been properly introduced. I'm Albus, Lily's older brother" Albus exclaims while sticking out his hand.

Of course I know who Albus Potter is. He sometimes comes by the Gryffindor common room to check up on Lily, but we never talked before. I shake his hand. 

"Bella Larson," I tell Albus.

"And I'm Scorpius Malfoy, Albus's boyfriend," The other boy adds. 

I shake his hand as well. 

"So Bella are you in Lily's year?" Scorpius asks, trying to make conversation. 

I wasn't really in the mood to talk but I didn't want to be rude so I answered, "yes". 

"Then how come I've never seen you hanging around my little sis before?" Albus asks. 

"Well you see it's a bit of a long story-" I begin to say before Lily interrupts me.

"ALBUS! I told you. Bella had a fight with her friends so she's hanging out with us now"

"Oh right"

"Sorry Bella you'll have to excuse my idiot brother," Lily says while elbowing Albus hard in the ribs. 

"Owww Lily"

Then all of a sudden all of the faces in the compartment were turned on me. I could see everybody's look of pity on their faces and it just made me want to curl up into a ball. I didn't like being the center of attention. Realizing that they were all waiting for me to say something I finally answered. 

"Oh I'm totally ok"

They all smiled at me. Lily turned to talk to Charlotte and Albus turned to talk to Scorpius. I pulled out a book from my bag and began to read. I had a feeling this train ride was going to be a long one. 

Oh my god, I finally updated this story. I'm so sorry it took me so long, I had so much English work to do. I have my final exam this week so hopefully, I will be able to go back to my regular schedule soon. Thank you all for being patient, happy reading! Word count 838.
