Evie was once again in her room, as bored as she usually was. She was looking through all of her tiaras, putting some of them on to see how they looked on her. She couldn't stop thinking about Henry. He seemed to always be on her mind, unable to leave. She truly loved him with all of her heart. As she was putting on another tiara, she was startled as someone opened her door almost making her drop the tiara.

"Genevieve." She saw her father was the one that had come into the room.

"Daddy?" She asked turning to him. Evie could see her father didn't have that stern almost angry look in his eyes that he almost always had on.

"I want to speak with you for a moment." He told her. Evie nodded at him as he sat down on her bed. "Genevieve, I know that I have been harsh with you, about this whole marriage thing. So I came to give you this gift to tell you that I am sorry."

He walked over to his daughter and handed her a small box with a bow on it. Evie took it from him and slowly opened it. She gasped when she saw it was a locket with a picture of her and another picture of her with her parents. "Daddy, it's beautiful. I love it thank you!" She told him as she gave him a hug. Her father was a little surprised by the hug at first but was quick to wrap his arm around her. Evie thought that maybe her father would finally listen to her about how she really felt about the marriage to Chad, and maybe she could tell him about her feelings towards Henry.

"Daddy, now I want to speak with you." Evie told him. He looked at her, waiting for her to continue. "Daddy, I don't love Chad. I think we both know that. Daddy, I'm in love, and it's Henry. He's a really good man, and he doesn't treat me as just a princess, he loves me for me, and not for my title, but as a person. And I want to marry him."

Her father looked like he could explode after hearing those words come from her mouth. "Genevieve, what have I told you?! You are not marrying a commoner! You are marrying a prince! You are marrying, Chad!" He yelled at her. "I don't want to hear the name, Henry ever again! You will listen to me, my words are final!"

Tears began to glow down Evie's cheeks as she had to listen to her father practically scream at him. "I hate you!" She yelled at him. "Why won't you let me be with the man I love?! I thought that maybe you would understand, but you don't! You don't care about me, you don't love me."

"Genevieve, I do love-"

"NO YOU DON'T!" She screamed at him. "Don't try to tell me you do when you so obviously don't. You love your title, you love your power, you love your wealth. But you don't love me. So don't stand there and give me a fake apology along with some stupid necklace! I hate you! And you cannot make me marry Chad! Or any man that I do not love!"

Her father just stood there staring at her as she yelled through her tears and ripped off the locket on her neck. His face turned red as he grabbed his daughter in rage. "HOW DARE YOU?!" He screamed back louder. "I am your King! I give you a gift and you treat it like dirt! You will do as I say and marry Prince Chad!"

Evie continued to sob even harder as her father slapped her before he stormed out of the room, leaving Evie crying on the floor as blood covered her cheek. She couldn't stand being in the castle. She climbed out the window and ran to the stables to get her horse.

And Evie rode back off into the woods and to the farm where Henry lived. She continued sobbing as she rode, unable to stop from both the pain coming from her cheek and inside her heart. Her father had never yelled at her like that, she felt as if she had no one. No one except for Henry. So once she had made it she got off her horse and knocked on the door.

Mal was the one to open it, and she was surprised to see the princess with a bloody stained cheek while sobbing. "Evie. Is everything okay?" She asked.

Evie shook her head. "I need to see Henry right away. Where is he?" She asked through her tears.

"I'm sorry, but he's not here. He and my brother went off hunting and they won't be back for a few days." Mal told her.

"I can't go back to my castle. Not now. I need to see Henry!" She said.

Mal felt horrible for the princess that seemed so broken. The princess that her closest friend had so helplessly fallen in love with. "You can stay here. I'll help you clean off your cheek." Mal said.

Evie sniffed as she gave Mal a small smile entering the small house. Mal led her to the kitchen and got a rag, wet it with water, and wiped Evie's cheek. "Thank you." Evie said in a whisper.

"Of course." Mal replied. "You don't have to answer this..but, what exactly happened that made you run away?"

"Me and my father fought. I tried telling him I was in love with Henry and wanted to marry him. But my father wouldn't hear me. He struck my cheek and so I ran away coming here because I needed to see Henry." Evie told her.

Mal nodded listening to what the princess had to say. "I'm sorry to hear that." Mal said. "If there's anything I can do, please let me know. I'd be happy to help in any way that I can."

"Thank you, but if you don't mind could I just get some rest?" Evie asked.

"Yes, of course!" Mal replied. "I'll show you to my brother's room."

Evie followed Mal to the bedroom and she laid down on the bed. Falling asleep, Mal watched her for a few minutes, before leaving the princess to rest. She felt horrible for her. She was going through a lot, Mal could tell. But until the boys came back, Mal would take care of Evie and stay with her.
