Henry was checking out his outfit again the mirror, making sure he looked presentable for Evie.
"Henry, you look fine!" Mal assured him as she entered the loft.
"I'm just nervous." He said. "I love her, and I want her to have a good time."
"Henry, she's with you, of course she is going to have a good time. You've got nothing to worry about." Mal told him as she put her hand on his shoulder.
"You're right! I'm going to saddle up my horse and get going." He said with a little more confidence.
And Mal waved as he left the room. Henry went down to his horse's stall and saddled him up for the second time that day, and he galloped off to Evie's castle. When he could see the castle, there were tons of guards around so he was sure to keep our of sight. He snuck into the stables and got Evie's horse, quietly saddled her before sneakily got out of there.
"What are you doing with the princess's horse?" A voice from behind him said.
Henry turned around to see a tall, strong guard standing there. "I'm uh, bringing her to the princess, as she requested." He told him.
The guard looked at him suspiciously, but he just nodded before motioning for him to go on, as he walked away. Henry let out a breath he hadn't realized he had been holding. So he quickly went back over to his own horse and got on him and led Evie's horse to her window. He found some small pebbles and threw them at the window. And that's when the window opened and he saw Evie looking as beautiful as ever. She climbed out the window and down the vines that had gathered on the castle walls, then when she was down enough she jumped down the rest of the way.
"It's good to see you again." She said before kissing him. And Henry gladly kissed her back. "So what are you doing with our horses?"
"I thought we could go for a nice moonlit ride." He told her.
"Sounds romantic." She said as she jumped onto her horse, and they rode off back into the woods.
Henry loved the way Evie's hair flowed in the wind. He knew that he was in love with the princess, there wasn't a fountain his mind. When they finally came to a stop, they were back at the lake where they first met. They tied their horses to a tree, and Evie set down a blanket on the ground and they sat down, and Evie rested her head on Henry's shoulder, and they leaned against each other as they looked out at the lake with the moon reflecting onto the waters.
"So tell me a little bit about you Henry." Evie said.
"Well, I've already told you about my past." He started. "So I guess now I'll tell you about my present. I live with my friends who live on a farm and I help them out. We're like brothers and sister, well they are brother and sister, and I'm pretty much like another brother to them. And, I'm very much in love with a princess."
Evie felt herself start to blush hearing that. "I'm pretty sure you know all you need to know about me." She told him.
"I know a few things about you. Tell me some things about you that I don't know." He replied.
"Believe it or not, me and my father used to be very close." Evie said. "But it's like, as soon as I turned thirteen he only cared about the future of his kingdom, he wanted me to find the best Prince, marry him, and become the next queen, with my husband as the king. And when I turned thirteen I started sneaking out more, coming here to just get away. I love that about this place. No one's around here, it's so quiet, and it's a good place to just come and relax. "
Henry then stood up, and held his hand out for her to take. "Dance with me." He said.
"But there's no music." She told him.
"We don't need music. Our love is the music." He replied.
Evie smiled and accepted his request as she took his hand. They started to sway with each other, dancing to the music in their hearts. Evie just rested her head against his chest, and listened to his heartbeat, which was very calming to her. And once they stopped they looked into each other's eyes not saying any words. But it was as if they were reading each other's minds. Henry slowly leaned down to Evie to capture her lips with his own. He began to deepen the kiss. But before it could lead to something else. Something more. Evie pulled away.
"Henry, it's getting late. I should probably be getting back to my castle." She told him.
Henry nodded as he understood. They went back over to their horses, untied them and rode back to the castle. When the trail split into two different ways they both stopped as they turned towards each other.
"Well, I guess this is the end of the night for us." Evie said.
"Yeah, you know. Maybe sometime I could take you to meet my friends." Henry suggested.
"Yeah, maybe. I'll see you later."
She and Henry both got off their horses, kissed each other goodnight before riding off in different directions, both silently agreeing that, that had been a great date.
