After that date with Henry, Evie had snuck back into her room.
She fell onto her bed and just sighed as she hugged her pillow. She now knew that she was head-over-heels in love with Henry. And with sweet, blissful thoughts of her true love, she had fallen asleep.

The next morning, Evie woke up and got herself dressed for the day before heading down to the dining room for breakfast.

There, her mother and father were sitting at the table, her father signing papers, and her mother sipping a cup of tea. A place had already been set for Evie with pastries and a cup of tea waiting for her.

"So what are my plans for today, daddy?" Evie asked.

Her father barely even glanced at her before looking back at his papers. "Prince Chad and King Charming are coming to the castle today, and you will be spending the day with Prince Chad." He told her.

Evie groaned quietly at the mention of his name. She couldn't even believe that she had to marry that self-absorbed jerk. She sunk down into her chair as she finished her breakfast, before deciding to just go back to her room.

She sat down on her bed and let out a sigh. How could her father just expect her to marry a man that she didn't love? It just didn't seem fair to her. Why couldn't her father see that she didn't love Chad, but that she loved Henry? He was her true love, her king. Not Chad.

She began to think more of how much she just wanted to lunch Chad and bury him alive, when suddenly, there was a knock on her door.

"Genevieve, I know you're in there. Can I come in?" Boomed the voice of her father.

"Like I can stop you." She said.

That's when he opened the door and walked on in. "Prince Chad and his father have arrived. Now you can go down to the throne room to meet him." He told her.

Evie stood up from her bed gracefully and walked up to her father with the biggest, fakest, smile on her face as she walked right on past him and down to the throne room.

She could see Chad smirking at her as she walked towards him, and he took her hand once more, and bowing to her. "Princess Genevieve."

"Chad." She curtsied politely.

He kept a hold of her hand as they walked out of the castle and along the pathway in the gardens.

Evie didn't really feel like talking to Chad so she just kept silent while they walked side-by-side. And there was an awkward silence between the two of them, until Chad just had to break the silence.

"So have you been well, Princess Genevieve?" He asked her.

Evie just glanced at him quickly while twirling a piece of her hair. "Yes I have, thank you." She replied.

Chad just smiled awkwardly. "Look Genevieve, I know that you're not exactly thrilled with the circumstances between us." He said. "But I believe that we will grow and learn to love each other."

"No, we won't Chad." Evie told him. "My heart will always belong to another man. I don't love you, Chad. And I never will. But I don't exactly have any say in the matter."

Chad just stepped in front of Evie stopping her from walking any further. "Genevieve, I know that you're not happy." He said. "But my father, along with yours, thought it would best if I give this to you." He then took her left hand and slid a diamond ring on her finger. "And so I give you this ring to make our engagement official."

Evie looked down at the ring on her finger. She didn't know what to think. It didn't feel right. At all.

"Chad I will admit, this is a beautiful ring. But just so you know, even though I marry you, it's for my kingdom, not for you, or anyone else. Is that clear?"

Chad nodded his head.

"Good."

Chad started to lean on to try and kiss her, but Evie dodged it and walked off, leaving Chad alone in the gardens.
