You are an infinity trapped in the space of a second

You are magic and wonder and joy
And all of the things I have ever asked for

You fill my soul with light and love
You are fuel for the fire of my creativity
The blood that pumps through my body
The air that fills my lungs with sweetness
You are a heady high and a comfortable low
And you make your home inside me

Loving you is like leashing a comet
You drag me along through your highs and lows
And if I pull to hard on that golden lead
You'll plummet to Earth
Destroying yourself and everything around you
I cannot keep you as my own
Captivity is no good for the soul

Because the other end of that leash
Is strapped firmly around my heart
And I fear bleeding out in its absence

That swirls behind the golden mask you wear
Venom drips from your lips
Sugary sweet and pleasant to taste
Until it kills you
You hide your claws well
And only dig and gouge when threatened
But everything is a threat
To your soft and tender hide

You are sewn into my skin

How do I break your heart?
Your heart is made of paper
Torn and taped and glued
How do I move on from you?
You are my shadow
Always following just behind

You are soft as marshmallow

I am your dog
