I want to be
Everyone and everything
That makes you pay attention to me
Because my worst fear
Isn't death itself
But disappearing into silent obscurity
Beyond the veil
I live to be remembered
As something more than a face
That flickers by in the crowd
Forgotten and unacknowledged
I long for the immortality
Associated with the persistence of memory
I have had too many giants
Tell me that you live forever
In the hearts and minds
Of those who remember you
To believe that a silent, unacknowledged passing
Is anything but murder
I want to make an impact
That will be so widely felt
That I will never die
Look at me
Please
I don't want to die
Without somebody
To love and remember me
I don't want to fade away
Don't forget me
I want to be your nostalgia
I want to be someone's hero
I want my name in the history books
As someone who meant enough to somebody
To be preserved for generations
I want to be a persistence
I am selfish
Praise me, raise me up
I want to stand on mountaintops
Without the fear of falling
I want my name on everyone's lips
I want to be a legend,
Some larger-than-life story,
Some bit of folklore
Put me in the ranks
Among men who ride tornadoes
And giants who fell entire forests
Men who punch holes in mountains
I want to walk where heroes trod
I want children to whisper my name
Know me
Acknowledge me
Do not kill me with your silence
I refuse to die
Remember me until the mountains crumble away
And memory is no longer possible
Remember me until we go extinct
Remember me
Please
