That New Start (a Hayes Grier Imagine)

Part Two

I approached him slowly but then I got scared and stood behind him and his friends.

"You know, you're probably not going to be able to see the board from back there." One of the boys said to me. All of them turned to look at me. Be clam.... I kept saying in my mind.

I raised an eye brow at him, trying to look cool and confident.

"I'll have you know, the teacher told me to sit with him." I said, pointing at 'Mr. Grier'.

The boy scoffed at me. "Well why didn't you?" He said with a devious smile on his face. I didn't know what to say. My face turned red and I looked at the floor. He and his friends laughed, except Grier. He tried to play along.

I had to think of something to say. "You guys looked like you were in the middle of a conversation. I didn't want to interrupt." I said, shyly.

"That's okay, have a seat!" The Grier boy said to me. I slowly walked and sat down in the middle of the group, next to Grier.

The bell rang and the boys went to their seats. The one who spoke to me earlier came over.

"You're lucky Hayes defended you." He said. I don't even know what I did? It's not even an hour into my first day and I'm already being tormented by some jerk.

I turn to the Grier boy. I guess his name was Hayes.

"I'm sorry about them. They don't like new comers. I'm Hayes." He said, flashing a smile.

"That's okay. I'm Laura." He nodded and turned his attention back to the front of the room.

Our teacher had us do a lab and I got to work with Hayes. I didn't want to jump too quickly to conclusions, but I think Hayes might be a good person I should hang around. When I watched him concentrate on doing the lab, his nostrils flared. His eyebrows furrowed together and his crystal blue eyes narrowed. His hair flopped in face and he would occasionally flip it out of his eyes. Hayes might not be so bad. He was pretty cute. And he was the one who was actually nice to me in his group of friends. I have good hopes.
