***Laura's POV

*The Next Morning*

I couldn't sleep last night. My mind was just glued on Hayes and his big move he pulled yesterday. I don't mind at all, but I'm just confused about what possessed him to barge into my house and kiss me.

I got out of bed and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked like a troll in the morning, as usual. I rubbed my face and then heard my phone go off. I went over and saw a text from Hayes.

"Hey, Laura. I'm so sorry right now ahead of time. I don't want either of us getting in trouble with our teams so I won't give you rides or be talking to you much or at all. As much as I want to, it's too risky. But Hopefully we can hang out later because all I want to do is have you in my arms. See you in science!" Then he sent some cute emojis. I was sad but I still smiled at the message. I appreciate that he told me this before I would get mad and freak out at him.

I decided to go and get ready for school. Since I got so little sleep last night. I wore sweatpants and a crop top. I straightened my hair and did my makeup. I went downstairs with my backpack to go and get breakfast. I wish that I could go and have breakfast with Hayes. But we might get caught. I made a bagel with cream cheese and a cup of coffee. I sent a picture of it to Hayes and I said "Wish you could eat breakfast with me :)". He sent back a sad face. I listened to some music on the radio while eating breakfast and checking instagram and Twitter.

Once I finished I gathered my trumpet and backpack and headed out for school. Before I left, I got another cup of coffee in a travel mug. I needed my coffee or I wouldn't be able to survive at all. I walked down the road with my coffee in one hand and some sheet music and trumpet in the other. I didn't have room for it in my backpack that was stuffed with text books upon text books.

I saw Hayes's car drive by as I was walking. I desperately wanted to jump in through the window of his car and give him a kiss on the lips. But I knew that was wrong for many, many reasons.

I finally made it inside school into the lobby. I saw Hayes talking with his friends and he spotted me. His mouth curled into a small smile. I smiled and then I felt the papers in my hand start to slip. They flew out of my hand and then I slipped in one of the papers that fell on the floor. I fell all the way down on the floor. My coffee spilled all over my papers and my clothes. I heard tons of laughs from all around me. I sat back on my knees and looked at all of the stuff that fell. I then saw Hayes come over to me and kneel down. He helped me gather the papers.

"Thank you so much." I said. He softly smiled at me.

"You're welcome." We were on the ground finishing gathering papers when I saw Hayes being pushed over into a puddle of my spilled coffee. I gasped and looked up to see my drum major towering over Hayes. "Yo! What gives?" Hayes yelled, just laying down in the coffee.

"Ok, Hayes. Don't act like you don't know! This is a fellow Band Student. She has vowed not to be with idiot people like you! Even if it's a small situation like this! I vowed to stand up to dim wits like you! Plus I thought we agreed! No contact with each other what so ever! So back the hell up and out of the way! I don't want your stupidity to rub off on her." My drum major yanked me up off the ground. I looked down at Hayes who started to get up off the ground as well. I saw his friends start to walk up behind him.

"Now you listen here, Tyler! She spilled her freaking coffee! It's the kind thing to do! I wanted to help! Sorry that I was being nice to one of your precious band freaks! I guess that I didn't realize that helping people and being nice was so wrong!"

"Well it is!" Tyler said shaking my shoulders.

"By the way, me not being even in her presence is going to be hard because the science teacher has us sitting next to each other." Hayes fought back.

"Oh no you didn-" Tyler started. I stepped in front of him before he and Hayes had a brawl in the middle of the lobby. I turned in Hayes's direction and saw his friends holding him back.

"It's okay, Tyler. I won't talk to him. He's just an idiot anyways." I said looking back at him. Hayes looked at the two of us with an angry look, his friends still holding him back. "I need some new sheet music too." Tyler nodded.

"I'll get on that." He said. He looked over my shoulder at Hayes. "Get to class, neanderthals." Hayes started to walk away but kept looking over his shoulders. He eventually was out of sight. "You okay?"

I nodded. "Yeah I'm fine."

Tyler looked right at me. "I don't want to see you with him unless it's in class. He's one of the worst people I know on that team. He's mean, stupid and needs a haircut." I should explain. Tyler has a buzz cut and Hayes has his quaffed up hair. "Just stay away from him." He said and then walked away. I stood in the middle of the lobby looking at the mess we left. I felt tears threatening to escape. I swallowed them back and got my stuff together. Then I walked to class.
