When class ended, Hayes and I cleaned up our lab and all of our stuff. I was putting a binder away and Hayes stood in front of me.

"Do you know where your next class is?" Hayes asked.

"Nope." I said. "I'll figure it out." Hayes furrowed his brow.

"Laura, I know you'll get lost. This school is big."I looked at him and we both had a same expression on our faces: Hopefulness. I wanted him to show me to my next class.

"Well, do you want to show me?" I asked. He grinned and zipped his bag up.

"I would love to." He said. I finished packing up my bag and Hayes led me out of the room and into the hallway. At my old school, the hallway was loud, but orderly. People minded their own business and stayed with the traffic. That wasn't the situation here. People were loud, all over the place and just flat out aggravating.

It was hard to keep up with Hayes. I guess he knew how to maneuver his way through people. He looked over his shoulder a couple times to make sure I was still following him. It took us a while but we eventually got to my next class: English. Hayes had this class with me too and I got to sit with him again. Throughout these classes, Hayes was really nice to me. I was really enjoying having a friend to show me around.

The class ended and I packed up.

"So can you make it to your next class from here?" Hayes asked.

"I think I can. I saw it in the lobby this morning when I came in." I said.

"Okay. Well, I'll meet you in the lobby for lunch and the last class of the day." I watched him walk out of the room with a skip in his step. I smiled and went to band.
