***Hayes's POV

So I guess you could say that Laura and I not talking to each other all day was hard. I mean, it's game day! All I wanted to do was talk to her about how awesome her first football game here will be! I was able to sit with her in science and we passed notes, but I couldn't sit with her at lunch, give her rides or do anything. She doesn't have friends and I just want to be able to be there for her.

At lunch, I went over to sit with my friends. They were all laughing and joking around. I looked across the lunch room and I saw Laura, sitting by herself. I wanted desperately to go and sit with her.

"Yo, Hayes!" Someone yelled, snapping me out of my daze. "What happened this morning?" Sam, my best guy friend asked. I hesitated on how I should answer that question.

"That girl spilled her drink all over her stuff and herself and fell. I just wanted to help." I replied. Good save.

"No, I mean when you and Tyler were almost going at it. You were kind of defending that girl. You know she's in band right?"

"I do know that. But what ever happened to being nice?" Silence. They all stared at me.

"What happened to defending the team?" Sam asked. The whole table started budding in and yelling at me.

"OK OK! I'm sorry! It won't happen again!" I yell.

"Better make sure of that. You don't want Justin finding out." Justin was our captain. I nodded. This would be harder than I thought.

***Laura's POV

*After School*

I walked home, still a mess. There are some coffee stains now on my clothes. I felt so embarrassed at what happened this morning. I still can't wrap my brain around what happened. What was even worse, not being with Hayes made me feel sad and upset.

Once I got home I called Hayes. "Hey do you want to come over before the game?" I asked.

"Sure! I'll be right over! I won't able to stay for long because I have practice before the game." He said excitedly then hung up.

Within 10 minutes, he was at my house. As soon as he walked in and closed the door behind him. He engulfed me in the biggest hug.

"I'm so sorry!" He said into my hair. I pulled away.

"What are you sorry for? I called you and idiot!" I said.

"I'm sorry because I called you a band freak! I just freaking hate Tyler!"

"It's okay. I'm not mad."

"I know. But I hate Tyler!"

"Yeah, after you guys left he told me that I shouldn't be hanging out with you. He said that you're mean, stupid and need a haircut." Hayes let go of me and walking into the kitchen rolling his eyes.

"Why does that nerd always think I need a haircut! I don't!" Hayes yelled.

"I'm sorry."

"No it's not your fault, He's just so annoying, I don't like that kid." I walked over and said at the kitchen counter while Hayes looked for a snack. "On another note, I missed you so much today!" He said turning and standing in front of me. "It was really hard not to go and sit with you at lunch. I felt so bad!" He grabbed my hands and stood in front of me.

"I know. Me too." We stayed there for a while. "Hey! Are you excited fir tonight?!" I screamed.

"Yeah! It's going to be awesome! You're going to love it!" We smiled at each other. Then he looked at his phone. "I have to go." I gave him a sad face and he gave me one more hug and a kiss on my cheek. "Oh by the way, I'll be able to give you a ride home if we can sneek out together. Meet me at the back entrance after the game and I'll take you home, ok?" I nodded. Then he was out the door and off to practice. I wasn't far behind him. I got all of my band stuff together and started my walk to school.
